dang, what an all-over wholesome read.

I usually don't like these juvenile kinds of stories, but the issues brought up here were incredibly important and I loved the own voices aspect for this main character of color.

The points of conflict tho were SO FRUSTRATING LMAO. It made me tear out my hair because it was so dumb and pointless. It could have been resolved much earlier OR evolved. I felt much annoyance and disbelief throughout this book but I guess that was fun in its own way. Otherwise, solid contemporary.

Okay so I have this habit of starting reading one author and then I read all the books available written by them. I started with When Dimple Met Rishi, and after that I wanted to read next book by Sandhya Menon and let me tell you all I was happy to take this decision. This book has a more appealing plot as that of her first book. The main character Twinkle is a cute American Indian who has this one wish to become filmmaker. But high school not an easy thing, not because of studies but the division it creates among students due to their status. She wanted to be among students who are according to her were silk feather hats instead of groundlings that was her current status. But as the story unfolds, is it truly what she wants all in her life? This story actually connects, we all have been to that phase of our lives where we are not celebrated for our sheer talents rather the status we hold in the community and how it can affect someone so deeply that their life decisions are dependent on that.
Although it's a love story but the way this book sends other msg subtly, it won't be a justice to say it is just a romance. Go read this book and you'll love it

Reading this book reminded me a lot of when I read Emma by Jane Austen. At first, I was really bothered by the heroine, and I felt she was selfish and arrogant. Eventually though, she begins to actually listen to other people and learn, and the frustration in the beginning is worth it. I liked all of the characters (even though Twinkle bothered me a lot in the beginning). This book focuses on 3 major relationships and issues with those relationships in Twinkle's life, and she learns to see new perspectives in all of them. I liked that aspect of the story a lot because it wasn't too heavily skewed towards family drama, chick lit friendship, or romance. Instead, the focus remains on her and how she deals with her emotions and interactions.

More like 3.5. Fluffy, but from the 2/3 mark onwards, it brings to light some beautiful points.

Why'd you pick this book? I loved when Dimple met Rishi

Summary: Aspiring filmmaker and wallflower Twinkle Mehra has stories she wants to tell and universes she wants to explore, if only the world would listen. So when fellow film geek Sahil Roy approaches her to direct a movie for the upcoming Summer Festival, Twinkle is all over it. The chance to publicly showcase her voice as a director? Dream come true. The fact that it gets her closer to her longtime crush, Neil Roy-a.k.a. Sahil's twin brother? Dream come true x 2.

When mystery man N begins emailing her, Twinkle is sure it's Neil, finally ready to begin their happily-ever-after. The only slightly inconvenient problem is that, in the course of movie-making, she's fallen madly in love with the irresistibly adorkable Sahil.

Twinkle soon realizes that resistance is futile: The romance she's got is not the one she's scripted. But will it be enough?

Favorite and Least Favorite part: Favorite: I loved this book from the moment it started. Twinkle is so relatable. I loved her, eventual, conversations with her parents. And Sahil is so cute and his friends are awesome. Least: I don’t really dislike anything.

If you like this book you might like: The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot is written in a similar format, a diary. Plus the romance is A-plus

It hit me again.

I was ecstatic for this book after I finished Sandhyas other book. It hit me right in the feels. This book truly took the elements of feeling like a high school nothing turned everything.
