enjoyed the humor, writing style, mythology references

I'm so torn about this book. On one hand I really liked and connected with it, but on the other hand it was a bit too heavy handed. There was just a little bit too much going on, and the ending was HORRIBLE. Basically like one of the biggest no-nos for an ending ever. Almost enough to put my review down to 2 stars, but I enjoyed the rest enough to let it stay at 3.

I loved this book so much! Honestly it had me at time travel, that is my absolute favorite kind of narrative.

Cassandra is a wonderful character to spend time with. Loved her honestly, her perspective, and her journey through this story. You think it’s going to be a classic RomCom but it’s really a book about Cassandra discovering it’s okay to be who she is and learning to love herself.

The narrator is fantastic! She brings Cassandra to life and it was an absolute delight to listen to this one.

For sure to be one of my very favorite books of 2023.

I picked up this book not really looking at what it was about directly after reading Fern Brady’s memoir about her life before & after her autism diagnosis. How random (or not) that I would read these two books one after the other completely unaware of the content.

I love a bit of magical realism & that’s why I picked up this book. I enjoyed it, quite a bit, but I’m also sad & angry now. While this book is fiction, the way that the MC is treated for being different is very real. There is no such thing in this world as “normal” - we all need to let our freak flags fly & embrace our weird ♥️

I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy this as time slip stories are not really my thing but main protagonist Cassie won me over in no time and I couldn’t wait to find out what she would get up to next. I enjoyed all the Greek mythology references and found Cassie’s perceptions of other people’s colour auras fascinating. Loved the make up with her sister - family is everything after all - and the story was very perceptive about how having autism makes your thinking a bit different to others.

What a good book. I often don’t like the subtle “life messages” in fiction, but this author did them just right. I often found myself saying, “hmm” and pausing to appreciate a good line or thought.

While overall I found this to be a good book, I wish I had read the physical copy and not listened to the audiobook. The narration grated on my nerves quite often. I was often reminded of my own autistic adult daughter in many parts of the book. I'm buying the physical copy to give to her.
