I always get excited when I see that Meg has a new book. I empty my schedule and know that I won't accomplish anything until I reach the last page. That is how this one was, too.
The character of Cass spoke to me on some deep level. Her pain, fear, distrust, anger, hate, and desire for vengeance mixed with her need to be loved, her desire to trust, her joy at the simple things, and fear that vengeance wouldn't come were so realistic and honest. I was there with her through all of it. I love her mix of teen attitude and womanly desires. I love her vulnerability and the way she would sometimes use sexual attraction to achieve the love she needs. It feels real and speaks to the abuse she suffered at the hands of someone who would tell her it was all done because of love. I love the blend of knowing that the story takes place in modern time, yet still has a touch of historical themes due to the Immortal Realm. Just like Cass, I felt a fondness for Reysalor from the very beginning, and even though Lorcan means her no harm I found it a little harder to trust him. It wasn't until Alaric and Pyrder appear that I understood why Lorcan seemed so distant and made me wary. The romance in this story isn't instant love, although there is instant lust, and it moves at a natural pace. The men give Cass time to get to know them and develop that trust that she so desires. I'm anxious to find out more about why Cass was really locked away and who is to blame. I dying to watch the relationships between Cass and her men grow. The build up for the final battle to save the world has been growing for a while now and knowing that the end is getting closer fills me with both excitement and sorrow because I hate endings. For now, I'm going to sit back and enjoy this fantastical, action-packed, steamy read and I suggest you do the same.

I had a lot of issues with this book. The biggest was the fact that she was 16 but “matured to 23 in human years” but is hooking up with dudes who are like thousands years old???? And she herself is so annoying and I cannot stand her. I only read this to fit the X last name.

I loved this book. Its so fun to read and sexy! Cass is an awesome heroine. She talks like I wish I could, just says exactly what she thinks. Her intelligence and fierceness just made this read so good. Her guys are all so different and hot too. Can't wait to read the next one and see whats next!

A Court of Blood and Void: A Reverse Harem Fantasy Romance
War of the Gods, Book 1
By: Meg Xuemei X
Narrated by: Victoria Mei

I tend to shy away from reverse harem stories, one man is plenty for me! But when I read the teaser for this book, I wanted to dive in and see where it would take me. The premise of trying to take down the Gods to save the world is what caught my eye, and this sucked me in and kept me going. Cass is a direct descendant of the God of death and is thought to be so powerful that even her own mother had her caged for the last 13 years of her life. Though only 16, she is mature beyond her years, and though not have experienced much since she has been captive all this time, she is quite capable. Now broken out by 4 formidable men who want to hone her skills to destroy the Gods, she is less than tame. I love this girl. Her spunk and vigor is not only fun and frustrating to those around her, but thoroughly refreshing. She doesn't even realize the power she holds, and I am not talking about her as a weapon, but the sexual pull an attraction. A vampire lord, a demigod and twin faes are here to help her and keep her in line. The attraction to all four is so strong, but what they propose is crazy, right? Give this a listen, you too will want to see what happens to Cass in the next installment of this fantasy. It's fast paced, full of action and battles and totally hot and sexy.

Narrated by Victoria Mei, I knew I was going to enjoy it, but she totally outdid herself. There are so many characters, each with distinctive personalities. She masterfully captures each one, giving them their own voice. The accents, the inflections and action packed scenes all come to life with her amazing ability to tell a story. I was captivated and can't wait for more.

When I read the blurb I thought that Cass would eventually run away from the potential four mates. She thinks about it often, tries once, but doesn't so to me that's misleading. Other than that, this was a fun and sexy read. I definitely don't like Jezebel and it will be interesting to see how that problem is dealt with. The best part of this book is that even with the fun sexy scenes there is a real and fascinating storyline to follow. The romance is definitely a main part of the story, but not the only focus, which is terrific. For those complaining of her age, which is chronologically 16, the author does explain that Cass reached her species adulthood at 9 years old. It even lists her equivalent age as in her early 20s. So she's not a child.

So freaking good! I ate this book up and can't wait to dive into the second one!

A Court of Blood and Void was, again, really good. I loved it so much. The characters and the mystery were keeping this such a page turner. In it, you will meet Cassandra - she goes by Cass. She's basically a descendant of the god of death. She also really hates her mom. She is weak in her eyes and definitely calls her the C word any time she can.

I wanted to know why this girl was in a cage for most of her life. I also loved how she became such a bad ass chick whenever the word cage was fucking mentioned. The action was so good. The gods, the teasing smut moments, and the guys were extra good too.

Cass was refreshing. I loved her take no shit attitude. She was a boss ass bitch and was underestimated by a lot of people. I can't wait for her to get it on with all the guys because that smut is going to be epic. Already have the second book on my kindle and I'm eager to dive into it!

Overall, I really liked this story, and I'll definitely be reading the next one. However, I didn't love Cass. She got on my nerves a lot and was way too brash and mean to the guys sometimes.

This was OK...

I wouldn't say I was thrilled with it, but I'm not mad at it either. Its just plain and simple fine.
