emma mills could write "a midsummer night's dream" but shakespeare could neverrr write "foolish hearts"
I think this book was exactly what I needed right know without realizing it. I read a lot of fantasy which I love, and sometimes I forget how much I enjoy a good ya romance, and this was exactly the one I needed right now.
I really enjoyed the characters and Claudia was a delight to follow.
It really made me want to pick up more books in the genre again.

SO CUTE! There are lots of honest emotional notes in this book, it's all from one POV, which is always a plus, and I found myself grinning fairly often while reading. I will be recommending this book to my students.
'That had everything on my must-have list,' I say, and then drop down to a whisper: 'Luxury. Affordable. Industry standard.'
A d o r a b l e book. Just when I thought I had escaped from the world of YA high school fiction! Something about the Powerful women loving women (without all the mopey sadness of being gay in high school), the unabashed geekiness & Unapologetic Loving of the Things You Love, and the Very Wholesome Messaging About Relationships makes this easy read more than a little heart-warming. I could have done without as many um-yeah-sures (even if it is true to the way teenagers speak), and a lot of the conflict resolution was saved for the very last bit. But I am extraordinarily upset that Emma Mills can create goofy and fun YA novels while Also "pursuing a PhD in cell biology." Also- I will be referring to all my straight friends as "Straighty McHetero" in the future.
First of all, who let me get so emotionally invested in this book that not only was I incapable of putting it down but I also wanted to flip back to its first chapter as soon as I had read the last line?
This book was like a face mask for my soul. And I think it could really use an extra page or two. Scratch that, maybe it's me, I just need more pages of:
✨ girls loving girls
✨ platonic displays of affection between boys
✨ siblings bonding over their shared love for video games
✨ just god-tier relationships in general
✨ boy bands and Shakespeare plays
✨ a game of fuck, marry, kill where Voldemort surprisingly doesn't get killed
✨ and a wholesome romance that made me painfully aware of the lack of cuddling I'm experiencing right now.

“When I'm interested in a thing, I want to know about that thing. Extensively.”
This was a cute contemporary! I think my favorite part of the book was either the fact that the main character really liked playing video games with her siblings (because my sister and I play video games together) or the whole boy-band fangirling aspect (because that took my back to high school and being obsessed with One Direction.) Not only that but I liked that the play they were doing was A Midsummer Night’s Dream because that’s probably my favorite thing I’ve read by Shakespeare so far.
Also, while the romance didn’t really stand out to me compared to the other young adult ones I’ve read within the past year, I still thought it was cute. I will say, I was far more invested in Paige and Iris’s relationship than I was Claudia’s, so there’s that I guess.
Overall, I found this to be a great contemporary and worth the read if you like the genre!
