Die Wunschliste

I'm sure everyone who reads this book ends up feeling like they need to make a list. Maybe I'm wrong, but I know that's how I feel.

It's about a girl who ends up completing a list of 20 Things to Do By My 25th Birthday. Only it's not her list. The girl who wrote the list died when she only had one thing crossed off the list. Now June wants to finish the list for her. Some of the things on the list are pretty easy (throw away my bathroom scale). Other things are a little more time-consuming (Make Buddy Fitch Pay).

I'm well past my 25th birthday, but I'm thinking a list of 40 Things to Do Before I Turn 40 might be in order. Well, maybe not 40.

Great summer read.

This was a fast and very nice read. In this story, the main character June decides to give a ride home to a girl that she has just met at a Weight Watcher meeting (Marissa). On their way home, the girls are in a car accident and Marisa dies. From the accident, June finds a list of 20 things that Marissa wanted to do before her 25th birthday and sets out to complete the items for Marissa as a form of atonement and healing. Along the way, she learns a lot about herself as well as the family and friends in her life. When I first started reading this book, I thought I had the plot all figured out, but was surprised by who June winds up with in the end. Overall, it was a nice book - light and very fast to read.

This was cute. Airy and fluffy. Would make a great summer beach read.

It was a light fun read.

The Next Thing on My List is a story written by Jill Smolinski about June, a woman who is involved in a car accident where her passenger, Marissa, died. June finds herself in possession of a list of twenty items Marissa wanted to complete before her 25th birthday. So June sets out to complete this list in Marissa's memory.

This book was a steal, because I found it in the clearance section for only a $1. This story was such a delight to read. I am a huge fan of lists and dreaming of adventure, so by getting to be a fly on the wall of someone completing a list of hopes and dreams was just what I needed to start the new year.

The list was really great! I really want to steal a few off of there, but without spoiling the whole thing, a few were ride in a helicopter, watch a sunrise, and run a 5K. Very simple and overused, but let's admit that a lot of us might even have those on our lists.

The story had great progression and one-dimensional characters, but it was lots of fun. It was definitely chick-lit, so it was not profound by any means, but gave way to a few laughs and smirks. June has lots of funny thoughts that I could relate to. It was also a fairly quick read being a mere 288 pages, but the story wasn't too long or too short. It was the perfect length. Also be warned it is a bit predictable, but enjoyable all the same.
