I’ll be honest, I couldn’t make it to the end no matter how hard I tried.

The start was intriguing but as the story progressed I found myself growing more annoyed with both Victoria and Lucien. I really didn’t like how Tori seemed to jump from being upset about not being allowed to see her family to just forgetting all that just because she’s attracted to her husband? Nah, I’m not going to be cheering for this relationship to succeed. It seemed to be toeing the line between abusive from both ends.

I was intrigued about the Jane and Harrison interaction and I will check out the other books to see what they’re like.

How is this even a revenge plot? He "ruined" her for all of two days probably, before offering to marry her... I'm so confused at the dumb, flimsy revenge plot. The heroine's brother "killed" the hero's sister(by "making" her commit suicide) and brother(by accidentally shooting him in a duel), and the hero's grand plan is to keep the heroine away from her brother by marrying her? Wooooow such genius :v

And their chemistry was flimsy at best. For a heroine in the regency era who should have been at least a bit harder to seduce, she gave in INSANELY easily. The plot was too shaky imo.

The Madness of Viscount Atherbourne: ★ ★ ★

Elisa Braden (Rescued from Ruin, #1)

“I would do anything for you, Victoria,” he rasped. “For your happiness. Anything. I would swim until I drown. Walk until no ground remained. You asked once if you mattered to me at all. The answer is this—you are the only thing that matters.”

Pretty good but I just wasn’t all that engaged through it with all the side plots? I started Book 2 quite some time ago (I stay reading out of order) but didn’t continue with it. Now I’m pretty intrigued to keep going.

If there’s a Colin book idk how she’s gonna redeem him.

Book hangover incoming.

I loved everything about this book. Revenge, angst, you're-awful-but-I need-you, secrets, cover art that perfectly matches the book. Even though I knew what was coming Braden still punched me in the gut and knocked the wind out of the room, it was so well done.

Atherbourne was such a delicious hero-villain? Victoria was a believable heroine, they had great chemistry and push-pull. Their relationship seemed like a modernized bodice ripper/forced seduction and I ate it up. I loved and appreciated that Atherbourne didn't quite grovel and that the reconciliation felt real and natural with some help from those around them.

Also, Lady Wallingham is a legend.

The potential of this book to be my favourite! It had so many things I liked! Lucien was a brilliant hero with so many layers and was very hot and interesting

Nope, just no. I read the second book first, and then I just couldn't connect with them. Because the second book is the BOOOOOMB.

I really enjoyed this book, but can’t really push myself to give it higher than a 4. I enjoyed the chemistry between Lucien and Victoria and liked the way Braden wrote the sex scenes. Otherwise, the plot overall felt a little weak to me, especially in the first half of the book. And, I’m the first half of the book, the Lucien is basically just abusively controlling, and then it’s not until the second half of the book where he’s kind of redeemable.

I really loved all the fire and intense sexual desires that this story brought. Lucien was a very well written character. I like that the writer had me so intrigued with this story. The give and take. The love hate and the nonstop desire was hot! I found the story easy to read. The plot was great! The plot had me excited to read the story. The characters all were great. Their personalities helped bring the realism to the book. The drama, the romance and the heartache was excellent. One thing I would have like in the book is that Victoria to be older than twenty. Twenty four or older. Or not addressing her age in the book.
