Wow wow wow, this is one of those (audio)books that I truly didn’t check to see how far I was and when I did happen to see a percentage I was disappointed that I only had X hours left. One of those books that I very well might just start back at the beginning when it’s done and revisit the infinite layers of wisdom it contains. I think Oliver Burkeman’s writing is the best kind of self-help genre; a style that synthesizes vast amounts of wisdom from philosophy, spirituality, psychology, etc and presents it in simple and relatable storytelling with a clear sense that the author is in the universal human struggle with you. Like having a deep meaning of life chat with a dear friend who shares great ideas yet also gives you the space to figure out what it means to you. The book title was recommended to me at a fitting time, though I can imagine it might not be the right time for everyone to pick up a book about facing mortality and radical acceptance of many aspects of human lifetimes. So definitely consider that before diving in! For me personally it’s a book that will be in the ranks of books that changed my perspective about life

I have always been sceptical of time-management gurus and individuals who aggressively shove the hustle culture down our throats, but this one is completely the opposite of that - totally recommend it.

Definitely something I’ll be thinking about for a while to encourage myself not to constantly feel unaccomplished because I haven’t accomplished everything on my to do. It makes you think in a perspective that life is short, do what makes you happy. Although it felt like a lot of the advice within the main body of the book was “just do it” or “just think like this” and everything will feel better. I felt the appendix had the most actionable items. The rest of the book felt like saying the same thing over again in different ways, which some resinated with me more than others.

I would rather watch paint dry than to finish reading this book.
