I enjoyed this reading about intuitive eating and I look forward to further implementing it into my life. Unfortunately I have a lot going on mentally so its actually been nice to think about changing my eating habits to a more healthy and long term approach.

This is the first non-fiction book I have EVER read (for my own pleasure), so as expected it took me a short while to get through it as I was missing the intrigue of a fictional story with plot twist etc. The book was also more than its actual self as you were taking it into your own way of living and attempting to adapt your mindset whilst also keeping a journal to complete activities and keep a food log.

I read a review or two that said this book was unprofessional in the use of the occasional swear words. I understand this point of view but I disagree. The book even has the word sh*t on the front cover! What were you expecting? It also didn't, for me, feel like it took away from the professionalism - there wasn't an excessive amount and it was honestly just used on a relatable level.

I don't think I can give this 5 stars, at least not yet anyway. As Thomas says, intuitive eating is a long journey and I may find myself taking a while to get there. Who knows, maybe the book didn't really help me much? Will I be changed in my eating ways? I can definitely see myself jumping back to chapters in the coming months as reminders to stay away from diet culture.

An important book that would be of more benefit if it were a bit shorter.

I had so many epiphanies when reading this. Time to embrace gentle, intuitive eating. Time to question diet culture and society's fetishisation of thinness.
Laura Thomas' approach is reasoned and empathetic.

This book is a must read for all women. Laura Thomas excellently explains why we think are bodies are wrong, why diet culture is so f*cked up, and how intuitive eating can help us make peace with our bodies. It is NOT a diet book. I was familiar with some of the concepts as I have read a few anti-diet / fat-positive books but this one is so well structured and so clearly explains the key concepts of intuitive eating, I would recommend to everyone. It also has a lot of exercises in it to help you restructure your thoughts around food which I will be going back to regularly. A truly empowering and wonderful read, thank you Laura!

As someone who has struggled with eating and body image, this book has helped to understand some of those disordered behaviours. The advice in the pages is a refreshing counter voice to most of the media speak around women’s bodies.

One thing I personally didn’t get much from in this is the journalling prompts- I don’t engage well with stuff like that, but can understand how it can help people to focus and apply the learnings .

Would highly recommend this if you’ve ever struggled to like your body, if you want to break a toxic relationship with food or want to understand diet culture and why it doesn’t work.

I find that some self-help audiobooks really should come with a warning that there are a LOT of exercises that require pen and paper and that actually, getting your hands on a physical copy is perhaps the better way to get the most out of it. For example, there are a few quizzes that ask you to score points out of a total, but it's not entirely clear on audio where the divisions between statements lie. I think I should try and get this in a paper edition to really do the work it encourages you to do.

This book is packed full of useful advice on detangling your relationship with food, all laid out in actionable steps. Whilst Thomas really encourages you to go all in on her method, I do think this might be useful for some people who are just trying to get out of some sticky and problematic thought patterns.

Something I didn't like- and it's probably a sign that I shouldn't listen to audiobooks about food- is the relentlessly tactile food imagery asking you to imagine textures and flavours. I completely get it but over-detailed eating descriptions make me really queasy- so if you also don't go for that, brace yourself.

Life changing book. Opened my eyes to all the lies I have been believing around food, body image, and diets. If you have ever been hungry and thought I should drink a glass of water - please read this book! If you are unhappy with your body, read this book. If you obsess over food daily, read this book. If you are on a diet, read this book!
