This is my mother's favorite book, which says a lot.

This is something I really needed from the series.
You see I was pretty fed up with the book's by the time that I got the third one. I felt that the characters lost the chemistry they had in the first book and the story got slower and slower. Also, the plot of the two sequels got scrambled up somehow and put back together rather quickly and haphazardly. I wasn't happy with the way the story ended. Four kind of brought me some perspective on how the characters used to be and I got an idea of why the characters ended up the way they did. it showed me how much they changed and how they didn't. I wasn't always a fan of Tobias's POV ,but I didn't mind it too much. Even though most of what I read was just everything I knew about him in detail, I still enjoyed hearing his thoughts while all these dramatic changes happened in his life. I especially loved it when he first met up his mother ,because I felt that had kind of been looked over in Insurgent. I thought it was kind of a big deal who his mother turned out to be and everyone took it in stride. One thing I got board with was when he was with Tris. I was kind of hoping to get a bit more insight into what about her drew him towards her but it was like re-reading Divergent. There was hardly any difference in the narration. Overall, I did like it. So I guess I just expected more out of it than I got.

This one is a bit weird to rate because I feel like it's so fandom-oriented and not a book I see in my brain as a 'real' book. But for the fandom side of things, it was fun to get a deeper look into Four, his experience, and his brain. Plus we always love to see the love story from the other persons perspective. It doesn't add a ton more to the story but it fills in some gaps as to how torn and conflicted Tobias was in his life and his actions. Fun free read!

♡♡♡

This book takes place before and during the divergent series. It talked about Four's past and how it affected him during the series.

I like how there are similarities/differences between both Four and Tris when they first joined Dauntless and why they joined it in the first place.

It also gives us more insight on his childhood and what made him fear what he fears now.

Four: A Divergent Collection by Victoria Roth is the fourth novel in the Divergent series. This novel is a prequel to the other three books: Divergent, Allegiant and Insurgent and is told from the perspective of the supporting main character, named Four. This novel is a dystopian, fantasy story about Four’s life before he met Tris, the main character in the other Divergent novels. I really enjoyed this novel because it provided a window into the past life of four, an integral character in the previous novels. It was also very interesting to hear from another narrator and to have another perspective on the story. I wished this book continued past the point it did, to include other parts of the series from a different perspective. Overall, I would definitely recommend Four: A Divergent Collection to any readers who have finished reading the Divergent series because it was an interesting addition to the series that is worth reading.
