A gentle, fun read with much to say about the bonds of female friendship.

A family secret meets small town life meets Thelma and Louise is the essence of The Rejected Writers Book Club by Suzanne Kelman. What happens in this book is not nearly as important as how it happens. The community and the bonds of family and friendship that stem from the Rejected Ladies are the heart of this book. A sweet book that will leave you smiling.

Fun read while traveling. It is a story that describes the adventures, while traveling, of a very quirky group of women. There were some interesting and predictable "twists" to the story. It did bring to mind travel incidents with a group of friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Rejected Writers Club by Suzanne Kelman form the beginning until the last word on the last page. Ms. Kelman has written a wonderful quirky and very funny novel about a group of odd and eccentric writers who collect rejection letters. They are well on their way to their goal of 500 letters when Doris, one of the leaders of the group, receives an acceptance letter for her book. This puts the entire group in jeopardy. What follows is a hilarious, madcap road trip to San Francisco to return the acceptance letter. The situations they find themselves in along the way and the odd characters they meet make the journey extremely entertaining as each roadblock adds to the story. I enjoyed the changes in the lead character, Janet, who is one of the towns librarians, from an outsider to a fully quirky member of the group. I also enjoyed how each character, even with their differences, were supportive of each other without question. If you are looking for a funny entertaining light read about friendship set within an unusual group of individuals this is the book for you. Just watch out for where you read it because laughing out loud can get you some unusual stares.

I received this book from NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing in return for a fair review.

This isn't my usual reading fare, but it was a fun little detour. The story is completely over-the-top ridiculous, but it had me laughing out loud at a few spots all the same. I read this using the audiobook, which I think added to the fun...the narrator was great at creating the characters with individual voices, enhancing the character descriptions given by the author. This is a good cozy read or a good book to grab when you are looking for something for a bit of a pick-me-up. Entertaining, colorful, imaginative, and quirky in all the right places. This one was well worth the read.

If you enjoyed Amy Hill Hearth's "Miss Dreamsville and the Collier County Women's Literary Society", you will love "The Rejected Writers Book Club" by Suzanne Kelman. Filled with strong and quirky characters whom you can't help but love, this is the story of Librarian Janet, who gets pulled into the shenanigans of an eclectic group of ladies, authors also known as the Rejected Writers. The group is on it's way to it's 500th rejection letter, until the unthinkable happens. AN ACCEPTANCE letter. What would make any normal writing group excited, almost breaks up this group of friends. In order to keep the group together, they must head to San Francisco and retrieve the book submission. Unbeknownst to most of the group, the author has included an embarrassing story that will upset her mother.
My favorite part of the book was when they group was stuck in an old resort during a big snowstorm. Funny stuff!!!

So I thought this was a cozy mystery and I was waiting and waiting to see who dies! But alas, no deaths! On the other hand, this was a fun, quirky, awesome story about a woman who had a 'ready made' group of friends dropped on her lap while on the best road trip ever!

This quirky story was absolutely fantastic. It started out a bit slowly, but as the strange cast of characters began to emerge the hilarity reigned. The Rejected Writers Book Club had me laughing out loud and desperately wishing I could go on a trip just like theirs. Suzanne Kelman is a genius at tickling our funny bone, and her characters are bold and audacious. I would highly recommend this book, its a perfect light hearted summer read.

I had heard many things about this book so I bought it and finally had a chance to read it. I laughed quite. Bit through this quirky group or rejected writers. Their adventure and mishaps are hilarious and so heart warming. If you want a laugh you will enjoy this book!

Rollicking fun read

The escapades of these women made me laugh—a lot. A sweet reminder that friendship can be forged in the unlikeliest of places, with surprising companions.
