I actually listened to this one - worth the spend to hear Amy Schumer narrate it.

Do you have that one friend who is always loud? Like, she has only one volume and even when she whispers, it's like that BIG stage whisper that an entire theatre audience could hear? And that's just how she lives? She lives loud - loves loud - & just seems so damn sure of herself?

That's Amy Schumer. And that's this book.

Funny, tell-it-like-it-is, so honest you cringe, I have a whole new respect and appreciation for Amy Schumer. She touches on many topics and tells it like she'd tell you over the phone or over some coffee after a night of drinking: abusive boyfriends, her dad's illness, her mom's infidelity, relationships, etc. etc. etc.

An easy read, an entertaining read, and relatable in many ways; I enjoyed it.

It was my choice and I had to learn (I'm still learning) how to choose to be proud of who I am rather than ashamed. Lucky for me, I'm a woman, so I've had the opportunity to practice this over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. (p. 313)

Funny and entertaining, nothing amazing

LOVED IT! Must Read!

I had the hardest time getting into this book when I first started reading it. Fast forward a few years later, tried the audio book (read by Schumer herself) and enjoyed it SO MUCH MORE. It just goes to show how much hearing the tone & inflection of someone's voice can change things

Made me like her on more levels than I already had.

Crude, funny, serious, silly, scary, sad, honest, fearless.....I was never a huge fan of Amy Schumer but wow this book is good! Her life has been full of so many rich experiences and I feel that anyone can relate to them in some way. Amy's way of handling situations and her opinions on certain matters really remind me of myself. She's not just a comedian that's for sure.

A funny book, as you'd expect from Amy, but she talks about some really serious things. She presents her life and family in a way that is relatable and puts her comic spin on even the most horrible events in her life.

I have never seen any of her stand ups, her show or her movie but after this book I have determined that she is an absolutely amazing person! Obviously funny but she also opens up about growing up with a sick parent, rape, domestic abuse, divorce, and gun laws and much more! I recommend this to everyone! The audio version had me laughing out loud and got me teary eyed as well.

Honest... Human… Sometimes I felt like she was trying way too hard to make you laugh. For example, I hated the Footnotes on her journal entries. They took away from the real emotions of that chapter in her life. The book was a definitely a reflection of the author as a whole though. Overall, it was worth the read. Average, quick read…

“Energy is finite between recharges & that shit runs out.” (Fuck Newton I guess.. lol) “The saddest realization I’ve had in my life is that my parents are people… sad, human people.” “Your power comes from who you are and what you do.”
