it's over. finally. it's over

I gave this book 3 stars because while I really liked the ending...it was what I was hoping for, the book felt like much of it was thrown together. It also seemed like the author was just trying to fill pages. Still, if you have read the rest of the books...you should read this one.

You know what? I liked who she ended up with. I always liked Sam, and I could see her having a real future with him.

So now that's out of the way... plot holes. A big one. Harris starts out with this novel in a different structure than the rest, with a separate mystery running parallel to the 'Sookie' plot. Which I'm sure Harris was meant to resolve in an appropriate fashion at the end. I think she forgot. Is the devil Claude? Cataliades doesn't think so? WTF? Line Dancing?

This entire series needed to be around 6 books shorter than it turned out. I have never read a series for the writing level to drop off so dramatically by the end. After book four, she should have gotten with Eric for maybe the next two books or so, and maybe in the 7th one, get with Sam and put this series to bed.

So, the ending to this book (love interest wise) I thought was acceptable. The execution was not. Safe to say, I won't be reading any more Charlaine Harris.

I don't know you guys, I just feel very tired about everything... might revisit the rating later

Well, at least it's over.

As far as endings go it didn't totally suck. It was pretty predictable, how everything was going to end up, who Sookie was going to end up with. I am just so glad it's over.

On this installment all of Sookie's enemies come back from their sabbatical. And every single last one of them is out for her blood. Sookie gets blamed for a crime she didn't commit, Eric and her are having marital problems (big whoop), Bill is still skulking in the woods, and Sam is getting used to being back from the grave. We basically get to see almost EVERY SINGLE important character that has grazed the Sookie Stackhouse novels. Though not some of the real important ones
no Hunter or Niall :/

The beginning of this series was so wonderful. So full of possibility, so interesting and with action at every corner. But as the series progressed it's like Sookie got 20 years older. She isn't the same care free spirit she used to be, willing to take chances, now she reminds me of her grandmother. The way things ended was expected, mostly anti climatic.

However it was a really quick read. I read it in a matter of hours. On a whim. I may even re read the first ones in the series, try to point out exactly where it all started to go downhill.

SILVER LINING, the TV SHOW IS STILL GOING ON!! And they are certainly taking a different route. So hallelujah! Hurray for Eric action, and him not being such a jackass! Hopefully they will also change the ending. All of my Bon Temp eggs are on the same basket now so TV people please don't disappoint!

Sigh, I can't really expand on anything else without giving spoilers. All I can say is it wasn't as bad as it could have been, it was still pretty bad, I loved this series once a upon a time and I am glad we can finally let it rest in peace.

Eric is a douche, go figure. Bill disappears midway through the book. Sookie ends up with SAM. Which we ALL SAW COMING! Ugh, no, I didn't want her with Sam, not after EVERYTHING we've been through in these novels! It's like she pushed all the supernatural world away to go back to square one. Boring!

The cover has been revealed! Let the bashing analyzing begin! I can't wait for people to start getting all sorts of conclusions out of this cover...

I might just lurk around for a bit more, while trying to remember all the names of the many men in Sookie's life in order to figure out the "great mystery" of Sookie's love life.
Come on, we all know it's going to be Sam, why hope for more?
I just hope Eric's image doesn't get too badly beaten to a pulp in this installment.

*There, there Eric*

Only thing I can say with absolute certainty about this whole series coming to an end is THANK GOD. This series needs to be put to rest as much as Jersey Shore needs to go off the air and out of our collective memories.

I really liked this series, and I thought the ending was fitting.
This series doesn't have the best writing in the world, but the content makes up for it in spades.
The concept behind it all was very interesting, the mysteries were exciting, the romance was steamy, and the characters were delightful.
But the heart of the series was Sookie- I found her very refreshing. It was nice to see a heroine worry about both how to pay the bills, and how to stop fights between supernatural creatures. I can't really explain it beyond that, but she was the perfect heroine for the world Harris created.

I have far too many feelings to properly review this book right now.

I think people here are allowing themselves to forget the evolution of these characters. Nothing good has really happened for Sookie in her dealings with vampires, or much of the supernatural world. I knew that it would end this way; why is everyone so surprised? At the end of the day, vampires and humans do not work together. And they don't freaking sparkle either. Sam has always been the perfect match for her, and I liked how things ended for Sookie. I will continue to read more of Ms. Harris's work because I enjoy her writing style and her stories.

A good ending to a beloved series. :)

Have to admit, I wasn't as enchanted with the middle part of this series - I was afraid to see Sookie go the way of so many other vampire-series heroines *cough*Anita Blake*cough* - but the last couple of books have made me fall in love with Bon Temps all over again.

I'll also 'fess up that I'm happy with the "who-will-Sookie-end-up-with" resolution, but I am most happy with the fact that even to the end, Sookie remained a good Southern girl with her own voice, her own beliefs, and a love of life itself.

Even though I'd love to see more of Sookie's adventures, this was a good place to end them and I'm thankful to Ms. Harris for sharing them with us!
