At this point I'm not sure if I like the books or show better. There are a lot of differences in the book that make it dull in comparison; for instance, in the show Jason goes off to join the Fellowship, which adds more of a plot and involves other characters. However, Sookie remains to be the only round character throughout the story, and it's a bit disappointing. Another thing I didn't like is how Sookie is always right. In the beginning scenes, she comes up with the idea of the house being bugged, and it takes her all of two sentences to crawl under a table and find the source of the problem. It isn't entirely logical and leaves Sookie as the ultimate protagonist, capable of saving every vampire's ass whenever they might be in danger. it seems a bit ridiculous at times. I'm still going to continue reading the series as I originally intended, and hopefully over time I'll grow to like them more.
Better than the first book, though some things are starting to get old in the habits and relationships department.
I loved True Blood as a series and am so happy I started reading the books.
They are interesting and put a different twist on the myths behind supernatural creatures.

Soon after Sookie's friend and coworker Lafayette was found murdered, she discovers that she and her special ability has been "loaned out" to another vampire district. She has no choice but to travel to Dallas to help locate a missing vampire. Luckily Bill is to accompany her as protection but travels separately—in his coffin via a specialty airline. After an upsetting turn of events, Sookie returns home only to find Lafayette's murder still unsolved and she wants to get to the bottom of it.
After recently reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, it was a little difficult for me to get started in the vampire world of Charlaine Harris. But I'm warming up to it, and really enjoyed this story.

I enjoyed this book MUCH more than the first one. Sookie's character was one that I could relate to much more than in the first book. I love how the story was fast paced and the mystery hooked me.
I still have this odd feeling when it comes to Bill and Sookie's romance. It doesn't seem to fit correctly for me, and I keep hoping she will end up with someone new.

Charlaine Harris' Living Dead in Dallas continues the Sookie Stackhouse series. Sookie has agreed to use here telepathic powers to help the vampires when necessary so long as the interviewees go free. The death of a co-worker and friend thrusts Sookie deep into the vampire world.
"'Angelic Sookie, vision of love and beauty, I am prostrate that the wicked, evil maenad violated your smooth and voluptuous body, in an attempt to deliver a message to me.'
'That's more like it.'" (Page 40)
The Sookie Stackhouse series is full of vampires and other supernatural creatures, mystery, and witty dialogue. Readers will find the vampire world created by Charlaine Harris dark, intricate, and mysterious. As their world unravels to reveal its connections with other supernatural communities or its battles with other groups who wish vampires were back in the coffin, readers will be absorbed.
"I realized I'd been rented, like a chainsaw or backhoe. I wondered if the vampires of Dallas had had to put down a deposit against damage." (Page 47)
Sookie is soon sent to help vampires in Dallas where she is caught up in the community's feud with the Fellowship of the Sun. Some of the most interesting elements of this novel was learning about Anubis Air and its business of transporting vampires across state lines as cargo and offering them protection when they travel during the day. Living Dead in Dallas is a quick read.

Since watching True Blood with my roommate at the time back in 2012, reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels has been a bit of a guilty pleasure. I've read a few of the books in the past, jumped around, but now I'm going back to read the 2-5th books in the series. Honestly, there's not a whole lot of thought provoking things happening so far in this series.
What I find interesting is the picture of rural America meets vampire scene. I guess I've seen a lot of urban America and vampires (take almost every vampire novel ever), and I heard a bit about the world meets zombies in World War Z, but I kind of like this perspective better. However, there are lots of cons to this book, too. Sookie seems to spend a lot of time thinking about what Bill would like or dislike. I don't mean just thinking about it, but obsessing over how her actions would make him feel and making sure she doesn't interact with any guys she's attracted to because she doesn't want to upset him. Which is weird.
And of course there's not a whole lot of diversity... the one gay character also happens to be the only black man. So, you know, pretty basic white vampire romance novels.
I do remember liking the first one better than this, but sometimes I need a little trash in my life. I'm hoping it gets better from here.

Amúgy is a jogi helyzetük is eléggé kérdéses.

COME. ON.
I mean, come on, don't you trust her even a little bit ??
Oh oui.
