Reynolds explores another image in the art - the sky. First it was The Dot, then The Ish, and not the sky. His waves, swirls and squiggles with splashes of watercolor, gouache, and tea is fun and memorable. His hand lettering adds to the artistic story. Art is a magical expression of individuals. It's how they see the world and Sky Color opens up the possibilities of colors beyond blue. Well done!

Finally! A book to show that the sky doesn't always have to be blue! Now we need a book that shows us that the sun is not a quarter circle at the edge of sky (ha ha).

Marisol is an artist. When it's time to paint a mural, she volunteers to paint the sky. But when she discovers that the blue paint is all gone, she's stuck. On the bus ride home, she muses about what to do...and we notice the yellowish sky in the background. Hmmm...we begin to get an idea of how she can solve her problem.

Along with THE DOT and ISH, this is another quick and fun way to spark creativity!

Peter Reynolds' mission is to help spread the love and understanding of creativity and Sky Color, like Ish and The Dot, do just that.

Marisol is an artist, and she is thrilled to help paint a mural for the school library. She volunteers to paint the sky, but when there is no blue paint, she isn't sure what to do. A ride home on the bus watching the sunset, and a dream of swirling colors give her an idea - she will paint her own "sky color."

A beautifully illustrated story about the sky not having to be blue. I loved journeying along with Marisol to see all the different colours of the sky, and it's a great visual tool for kids.

Will definitely be adding this one to our personal book shelf!

"The Dot" was a story of discovering what makes one happy, "Ish" was about accepting one's strengths and moving past negativity, "Skycolor" is a great end cap with learning to expand one's horizons and breaking limitations. A third beautiful tale of inspiration, the book is full of beautiful colors and touching simplicity.
