While I didn’t love this book, I didn’t hate it either.

It was a good book that in my opinion lacked something I can’t quite put my finger on.

I enjoyed it, it’s not the kind of book that I’ll read again for a second time.

We Own Tonight is every teeny bopper's dream. Every girl that had their favorite boy band poster hanging on their wall. Every girl who believed their favorite singer was singing only to them. This was 12-year-old Me's dream. LOL I looooved a boy band. (Still do) Can you imagine having your teenage celebrity crush pick you out of a crowd and then pursue you?! *sigh

Corinne Michaels once again does not disappoints. I loved this book!! I've read stories where the superstar falls for the normal girl before but, We Own Tonight is a different and fresh twist to the trope. It's so good!! The characters…gah!..I can't get over how much I love these characters. I loved their push and pull and I love their fiery connection. Heather, my goodness, has had so much pain in her life but she is still so selfless and strong. And Eli…swoon… he's so dreamy and ridiculously perfect. I fell hard for his tenacity and determination. If he were real, there is no doubt I would have his poster hanging on the bedroom walls.

I was ready for this book to be a sexy, fun, light romance. Shame on me. I should have known better. It is Corinne after all. In her typical fashion, the woman had to go ahead a make me feel things. Even though I finally made it through one of her books without crying, (HALLELUJAH) there were still those moments where I was close to losing it. Super close. Like there's-pressure-building-between-my-eyes-and-if-anyone-talks-to-me-right-now-I'm-going-to-break-out-into-an-ugly-cry close. These moments just made the story that much more amazing. We Own Tonight is just another one of Corinne Michaels' must read masterpieces. It is not to be missed.

What is the worst thing that can happen when you come face to face with the teenage heartthrob you had on your walls growing up? For most people it would be screaming his name at a concert. But when Heather comes face to face with Eli, not only does he bring her onstage and serenade her in front of everyone, she ends up in his tour bus doing things she could only have dreamed of. So when her conscience comes into play and he actually runs after he fleeting form is this the beginning of a beautiful romance? Or it just one more thing that Heather needs to put out fires for? With a couple that the reader will instantly fall in love with and a group of friends that hopefully will get their own HEAs this was a fantastic read. But it is not all sparkles and unicorns - be prepared to cry a few tears along the way.

We Own Tonight is hands down the best book I've read this year!!! Corinne has a way of captivating readers with her words. Once I started reading, I hated having to put the book down to go to bed. Eli is the sexy rock star and actor. Heather is a strong woman who has been dealt a crap hand at life. The two of them meet and the story really takes off from there. This book is so beautiful and heartfelt. It really gave me all the feels; laughter, heartbreak, love, smoldering sex scenes and really anything and everything you could want from a book.

Get your tissues ready!
"We Own Tonight": when a teenage crush on a rockstar becomes reality.
But the book is not only that, it’s not a rockstar romance like the usual ones, in which the plot takes place in the world of concerts and the band. It’s a beautiful, deep love story that can indeed belong to the real life.
Heather is a woman scarred by the unfairness of life, she is a police officer, she is 38. She has only one sister with a degenerative disease, and she has been caring for her for twenty years. She is divorced for five, she no longer trusts men and she pretty much ignored her own needs to devote herself to her sister She has some fantastic girlfriends who always encourage her to let herself go a little, to do something crazy and to pamper herself once in a while. And what better time to do that than on the day of the Four Blocks Down concert, the boyband for which Heather and her friends go crazy since they were young girls?
Luck or destiny, want Heather to be crazy – something so unusual for her – with Eli Walsh, the rockstar she always had a crush on, who from the stage notices her among all the screaming fans. The spark ignites and they spend an unforgettable night together. But then she runs away.
It had to be just an one-night.stand, a moment of madness. But it’s not like that
Eli, who is now 42 has never been interested in settling down, mainly because something that happened in the past. He is going to hunt Heather relentlessly, because he feels it could be different with her, that she could be the right one and he thinks she feels the same for him. It’s going to be hard because Heather doesn’t want to fall in love, she doesn’t want to get attached. All the people she has loved, have left, in one way or another.
Eli is a wonderful man though and he is going to fight to win Heather's trust, with small and big daily gestures, showing her who the real Ellington is.
Just when things start to go well, the inevitable happens for Heather and Eli will be her rock, and while Heather manages to react and recover with Eli's love, there’s yet another twist. And you say, "NO, NO, NO!" And you curse the author, but you can't stop reading. Through the story there were all the signs of this turning point, but hope, as always, is the last to die.
The parts are reversed and Heather will be Eli’s rock: she is a strong woman, she has overcome a lot and she is going to overcome this too, showing him that love is the center of everything.
I loved this novel, from the first to the last word. This story talks about love with a capital A, which deals with topics such as fears and insecurities, illness, loss, forgiveness and hope.
I really liked that the main characters were mature people, and that the story was told with alternate POVs.
I would like to reassure you that, despite my initial sentence, the story is so poignant, but it is also fun and very sexy. Eli and Heather are explosives together. This book is a whirlwind of emotions and there are moments that break your heart, others that make you laugh and smile and others that make you dream.
There are many great secondary characters and some fundamental to the story like Heather's sister, Stephanie, who has a very important role; the three friends of Heather Heather's work colleague; Eli's brother, Randy, also a member of the boyband and their family
In conclusion, I can’t recommend enough this book, it’s not the type of romance where everything is full of rainbows and unicorns (romantic no fear, there’s a happy ending), but it’s like in reality, with ups and downs, life-altering problems and situations. And because of that, I couldn't stop reading, I was afraid to go on, but at the same time I needed to know how it would end.

We Own Tonight is the first book in the Second Time Around series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Heather and her friends go to a concert to see Three Blocks Down, one of their favorite bands from when they were teenagers. Somehow, she captures Eli’s attention, and he pulls her out of the crowd. They have a one night stand, and Heather leaves it at that, but Eli is determined for that one night to be something more.

Heather (38) is a cop, and she doesn’t usually do one night stands, but it was her teenager crush, so she figured “why not?” But returning to her life means returning to her job and taking care of her sister. She had been married, but got divorced 5 years ago because her ex didn’t like her taking care of her sister. She’s strong and intelligent, and she has such a big heart.

Eli (42) is not one for relationships after his previous girlfriend, years ago, betrayed him. But there’s something about Heather that he can’t let go of. He’s so sweet and charming, and not only with Heather, but her sister as well.

This book had so many cute moments, and I loved seeing the relationship between Eli and Heather grow. It wasn’t instant, because Heather was being careful and thinking of all of her responsibilities. She was also thinking ahead about how it would work between them with his career. Eli made sure she knew how he felt though, and he didn’t ever give her a reason to doubt him.

Now, there were also some very heartbreaking moments as well. I listened to the audiobook, so it was a more emotional experience because I could hear the character breaking. Honestly, it was a great performance.

This was my first Corinne Michaels book, but it will not be the last. I will probably go back and reread it as a book.

Corinne Michaels has been a favorite of mine for a while, and We Own Tonight just reiterates this for me.

This is the story of Heather, we has had a crush on Eli, a member of a boy band from childhood. She manages to fulfill most women's dream of meeting- and falling for- the lead singer while attending a concert with her friends. We Own Tonight takes us through the journey of this budding relationship and all the highs and lows that go with dating a celebrity.

This book was well-written and the characters are people who I would love to hang out with. It was well-paced, and the ending was satisfying. This was a hit!!

I don't know why it is a surprise - I loved all the books I read from this author but I really liked this one too

At first I was like wait? he is over forty? how old is she? (we are about the same age) I found her reaction silly then I did some introspective work and admitted I would have done the same.

It was a roller coaster read. I cried I laughed I fell for Eli a little haha

Each month I try to listen to at least 2 books I already have in my library. I’m also trying to read authors that will be at Readers on the River in KY next week, so I was happy to find We Own Tonight by Corinne Michaels on my phone.

Honestly, We Own Tonight is every woman’s fantasy come true, but there are some real-life, emotional times that just completely made me fall in love with this novel. Heather is a policewoman who goes to see her favorite boy band whom she idolized 20 years ago perform a reunion concert.

“He’s too beautiful to look away from. I watch the way his chest heaves as he dances around the stage in perfect sync with the other guys. How his eyes scan the crowd but still make every woman think he’s looking right at her. It’s magnetic. He’s ridiculously sexy. Even in his forties."

Somehow she finds herself being serenaded on stage, invited backstage, and then falling into bed with Eli Walsh, the sexy boy band singer-turned-TV star who was Heather’s long-time crush as a teen and beyond.

“We can’t worry about tomorrow, we can only own tonight. And tonight, I’m going to make sure you never forget how good we are.”

Heather has a lot going on. She raised her little sister after their parents died, and now that sister is very, very ill. Heather has no time in her life for relationships, especially with a star, but Eli has never felt a connection like that, and he isn’t about to let it go.

“Because you’re not like every other girl. You’re the first person I’ve met in what feels like forever who doesn’t seem to want something from me.” His hand pushes the hair back off my face. “You look at me like I’m just a guy, not a meal ticket. You’re gorgeous, stubborn, and there’s something more that I can’t explain. I’m not saying this will work, but I’m willing to take a chance and see what this is, are you?”

Gosh, We Own Tonight was so much more than a light rock star fantasy. It was a fast and easy read that sucked you in immediately and brought out every emotion. Corinne Michaels broke my heart, put it back together, broke it again, and repaired it again.

“I thought I knew what love was, I didn’t have a clue until you.”

  • •It can be depressing at times.

  • The Narrations:

Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber were absolutely perfect for We Own Tonight. Andi’s depiction of Heather and Stephanie captured my heart, and Zachary was perfect for the sexy pop star. I think the narration totally added to my love of this book.

    The Down & Dirty:

Wow, We Own Tonight is an oldie but a goody! It’s been on my radar for years, but I never got to it. It had everything I love in a romance novel and more. Filled with romance, friendship, family, love, and heartbreak, We Own Tonight by Corinne Michaels left me wondering why I waited so long to read it; it’s no wonder it’s still so popular 6 years after release. Be warned though...have tissues at the ready!
