3,5 tal vez...

Much wow, so cool.

When I first heard of this fairy tale retelling in a sci-fi world in New Beijing (!!) I knew I had to read it. Now that the third book in the series, Cress, has come out recently I had to finally read it.

And I was hooked. From the first page on.

The worldbuildung.
It's what caught my eye at first. New Beijing as a setting; World War IV 126 years in the past; cyborgs; hovers; netscreens; androids..I loved every bit of it and I was so fascinated that I practically could imagine myself being there the whole time I read this book.

The characters.
Cinder was such a great main character. I loved all of her. Her human as well as her cyborg parts.

Kai. He seemed like the too young emperor who wanted the best for everyone and I liked him for his loyalty to the Commonwealth.

Iko was a great sidekick and I wish that I would have seen more of her. She was snarky and ladylike and for an android she had a lot of her opinions, which was great.

Adri and Pearl.
I loathed those two with a passion. How could they be so cruel to Cinder, when she did nothing to them? When it wasn't her fault that she was who she was? I just could have punched them in the face.

The fairy tale aspect.
I loved how there were parts were you could see the parallels between Cinderella and Cinder and then there were parts where you read a totally different, a unique story.

The plot.
It was interesting so see what has become of the Earth, how there were people that were superhuman and lived on the moon. That's something pretty cool; especially how afraid the Earthen people were of the Lunar glamours. It was also very interesting to see how being in such a technological world where so much progress was made, there was an epidemic plague that killed a person very quickly and there was nothing that could be done against this disease. It was cool how there was a scientific plot as well as a political plot that merged together to become Cinder.

I loved this story! It was beautiful and interesting and intriguing and I can't wait to read the rest of the series (at least the sequels that are released so far) as soon as possible!

Initial thoughts:

1. This dystopian world was so fascinating!
2. Cinder was a great main character and I loved her and her cyberborg parts as well!
3. Queen Levana is one of the most evil characters I've read about.
4. Loved the fairy tale retelling aspect and how Marissa Meyer transformed it into something of her own.
5. The scientific, technical and political story lines blended well together with the whole story and I wanted to know more and more and more about it!

I have seen so many people rave about this book. My expectations were really high. And I have to say, it met every one of them! I loved this book from beginning to end. The world building was amazing. I could not sit it down.

OMG!!

I heard mixed reviews about Cinder and the Lunar Chronicles in general. All I can say is OMG!!!

I should've picked up this book a long time ago. I love reading retellings and this one is so good.

I didn't have a single complaint about this book. The story line is absolutely intriguing. The retelling portion as well was very well written.

Marissa Meyers did an amazing job, I'm so excited for book two "Scarlet" I have high hopes for the story line.

Cinder had everything, comedy, romance, fear, interesting, and of course both humans and androids. It had an amazing climax and ending as well as some compleye mind blowing changes or unexpected turns.

Definitely will recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read!

This book is set during a futuristic pandemic which is chilling and hits home but I think that's my favorite part of this story.

I understood with this book being a Cinderella retelling I am going to know how some events happen but even with those aside the book was a bit predictable. That's why I knocked it a star. I believe by page 100 one could guess the entire books plot.

However, the writing and characters draw the reader into the story so well I wanted to finish reading despite the predictability. Cinder is a wonderful character. I love Iko too.
