The characters? Frustratingly flawed to the point of exhaustion, but somehow you can’t stop rooting for them. It’s like watching a glamorous train wreck with poetic narration that hits deep. The toxic romance and drama feel both maddening and addictive, leaving you torn between screaming at the characters and turning the next page. Despite the mess, the emotional depth and vivid descriptions make it unforgettable. I’m excited to continue this series and seeing these characters develop. Also guys please what was that ending? Put my heart back together just to rip it apart and shatter it to pieces AGAIN?!

I have been thinking about reading this for a while, and when I happened to spot it + Daisy Haites in the Readings in the city while on a bit of an unhinged book-buying spree I simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab it (in the pretty edition as well - an absolute must like I ain't getting these in the other edition oh my god).
This was everything I wanted and more - the drama, the characters, the obscene wealth and audacity of these idiots. Just excellent. I was thinking like, it is kind of a predictable churn ofBJ and Magolia drifting closer, and then one of them (usually BJ) fucking up spectacularly and Magnolia then runs away . But holyy my jaw hit the fucking floor at the end with that reveal. Just unhinged. I am so glad I bought the rest of the series while only 100 pages into this one because it's going to fill such a perfect hole in my reading - unhinged contemporary rich relationship drama turned up to 11.
I am so curious (and mildly terrified) to read Daisy Haites and get more info on what was going on with her during the events of this (because it seemed wild and baaaad).

„Magnolia Parks” – dramă pură. Savuros? Da. Incitant? Hell yes. Revoltător? Mmm, uneori voiam să arunc cartea, dar în cel mai bun mod posibil. Fascinant? Absolutely. Hilar? Daaa, mai ales în momentele alea când ești în tramvai, încerci să fii serios, dar apoi zice Bridget ceva și aproape pufnești în râs.

Finalul? Aș fi vrut altul, dar știu că nu era momentul. Nu pentru ei. Personajele mai au de crescut, de suferit, de făcut alegeri questionable până să ajungă să se vindece pe ei și relația lor. Și asta e ok. Pentru un prim volum, e exact ce trebuie — un start în forță, care te ține non-stop prins în poveste, încercând să descifrezi ce, doamne, e în capul lui BJ și Magnolia.
Am devorat cartea asta. Și când zic "devorat", mă refer la "m-am forțat să iau pauze ca să nu se termine prea repede". That good.
Și, evident, nu pot încheia without some of my favorite quotes:

Întrucât să-l iubesc pe el ar fi ca și cum i-aș înmâna cheile inimii mele unui valet fardat ca un șofer. O să derapeze și o să mă arunce în gol de pe o stâncă.
Am o senzație aparte, cum că am iubit prea mulți băieți și poate că am făcut prea mulți băieți să mă iubească.

Câte tipuri de iubiri există? mă întreb eu din nou. Unele iubiri, ca a noastră, sunt ca niște bile pentru demolări aflate în case cu pereți de sticlă. Iar bilele pentru demolări n-au ce să caute în casele cu pereți de sticlă, așa cum eu n-aveam de ce să-l iubesc pe Christian așa cum am făcut-o.
Doar că, uneori, unele iubiri te țin la suprafață când te îneci. Unele iubiri te fac să aburești geamurile unei cabine telefonice într-o după-amiază ploioasă din Londra și să te simți mai puțin singură decât înainte ca buzele să vi se atingă.
Christian lasă în urmă ce a fost între noi, așa cum și trebuie să facă. Așa cum ar fi trebuit s-o fac și eu de mult.
Dar o să-mi fie dor de el în zilele ploioase.
S-a uitat la mine, zâmbitoare și încruntată deopotrivă. Cred că e important să menționez din capul locului că am fi putut să ne oprim. De mai multe ori. În orice interacțiune sexuală, există mai multe puncte organice de repaus – când ne tragem sufletul, când ne dăm hainele jos, când facem o pauză de la sărutat sau când schimbăm pozițiile – în care am fi putut să ne oprim.
Noi n-am făcut asta.
Apoi am tras-o peste mine și am făcut sex în cada mea.
Și mi-e greață să o spun, dar a fost bine. Chiar grozav. Știu că nimeni nu vrea să audă asta. Toată lumea ar vrea să fi fost oribil, cea mai groaznică experiență din viața mea. Să nu fi simțit nimic, să fi urât momentul, să nu fi avut orgasm, să mă fi gândit la Parks tot timpul.
Însă nimic din toate astea nu e adevărat.
Mi-am dorit să se întâmple.
Și singura dată când m-am gândit la Magnolia a fost când creierul meu mi-a spus c-ar trebui să mă gândesc la ea.
