I greatly appreciate EMTs and paramedics. They have a hard, dangerous job. Yet, they receive little recognition. This book is honest without restraint. The calls EMTs and paramedics go on are unpredictable. I hope this book brings their important role to the forefront so they receive the accolades they deserve.

I love medical memoirs.

Really enjoyed this, looking forward to reading more from the author. It was enlightening to read how healthcare works outside of the hospital and the crazy experiences he had in Atlanta.

An easy to read, interesting look at how a man tired of being a reporter became an EMT. The reader tags along with him on a number of runs of all kinds, from childbirth to wannabe suicides to asthmatic patients. I really liked this book and would continue to read his stories from the field.

3.5⭐️
As a baby EMT this book was amazing to read to get into the mindset of the endeavors to come. Plus it’s eye opening to the field of emergency response in a whole, I definitely gained a new appreciation and prescriptive that is sure to aid in my EMS career.

This was a really interesting read, following the author Kevin as he looks back at a career as a paramedic. Hilarious and horrific in equal measure, it shows just how gross and even dangerous the job is, while also showing why people stay in the profession and the rewards that come with it.

There were parts that I found a little slow, but overall I loved this book and learned a lot.

4 stars.

This book has been on my TBR forever....I head the author interviewed back in 2016 on NPR and thought it was a fascinating topic....happenings in ambulances. The author definitely does a good job of writing his memoir of experiences as an EMT in Atlanta--- and intertwining stories that bring up poverty, politics, gore, love and loss. I was shocked with how many topic Hazzard brought up while describing a night in his bus. I still don't want to be an EMT, but I really enjoyed hearing about the work and what he was confronted with on a nightly basis. Very impressive.

Read if you enjoy memoirs with blood.
