An easy to read, interesting look at how a man tired of being a reporter became an EMT. The reader tags along with him on a number of runs of all kinds, from childbirth to wannabe suicides to asthmatic patients. I really liked this book and would continue to read his stories from the field.

As a baby EMT this book was amazing to read to get into the mindset of the endeavors to come. Plus it’s eye opening to the field of emergency response in a whole, I definitely gained a new appreciation and prescriptive that is sure to aid in my EMS career.

This was a really interesting read, following the author Kevin as he looks back at a career as a paramedic. Hilarious and horrific in equal measure, it shows just how gross and even dangerous the job is, while also showing why people stay in the profession and the rewards that come with it.
There were parts that I found a little slow, but overall I loved this book and learned a lot.
4 stars.

This book has been on my TBR forever....I head the author interviewed back in 2016 on NPR and thought it was a fascinating topic....happenings in ambulances. The author definitely does a good job of writing his memoir of experiences as an EMT in Atlanta--- and intertwining stories that bring up poverty, politics, gore, love and loss. I was shocked with how many topic Hazzard brought up while describing a night in his bus. I still don't want to be an EMT, but I really enjoyed hearing about the work and what he was confronted with on a nightly basis. Very impressive.

Intriguing account of life as a paramedic. Enjoyed journeying with Kevin Hazzard as he sat for exams, took his first 911 call, saved lives, lost lives, delivered babies, and many more. Great read!
An interesting memoir about his experiences as an EMT.
The average person has no clue how difficult the jobs of EMTs and paramedics are this book is a series of snapshots into such a life . Written with passion for a job that most could not do in a city most would not want to do it in . Really enjoyed this book just wish there had been more stories ;)

My first memoir that Ive really read, was good, wasn’t itching to read it at times, but enjoyed the stories it told.
