This book is Sanderson's take on the YA Sci-Fi genre. No doubt, Sanderson's strongest point is in world-building... be it sci-fi or fantasy. The man's a genius when it comes to that, and this book just proves the point!
Action scenes are enjoyable, as expected from Sanderson. Story is fast-paced, though it was the last quarter of the story that really had me hooked. This is a bit easier and lighter to read, as compared to his other works. Overall, in my opinion, it's not as mind-blowing as Mistborn, but it's a solid start for a good series.

Interesting enough that I reckon I'll read the other books in the series. An easy read.
This was readable but absolutely not what I expected. Like a lengthy comic book. Meh.
I enjoyed this story a lot more than I thought I would!! Terrifically unique & exciting. Characters you will care about. Can't wait to learn more about them & their world.
Very much worth my time!!!!

I liked the book, and didn't realize it was a series but I don't think I'll read any more of them. It was an entertaining story in a post-apocalyptic world (I just have too many other books on my plate right now).
This book would rate higher if the David and Megan "no-mance" was not a part of the book. I could have done without his version of pining. Other than that the world build was cool. The other characters fell flat for the most part, I had a hard time envisioning them in my head.
I will read the other books in the series though.

I'm intrigued, but I'm just not fully feeling this right now, and with the reading mood that I'm in, I need books that I am fully interested in and that I can just fall into. I didn't realise that this was a YA dystopian fantasy, instead of a high fantasy, which isn't what I need right now. I hope to pick this up again in the future.

For a YA story this is quite good! It could be dinged down to 3 stars without that pretext but I think it's unfair to judge the book without considering the audience.
Steelheart is an action adventure story perfectly suited to younger readers that covers what may happen in a world filled with superheroes. Turns out man generally uses power to benefit himself rather than humanity. The actions is compelling and there are plenty of twists to keep the reader entertained up until the very last.
Though I enjoyed Starsight, his newer YA book, better this is still a great read and one I would recommend to teens readily. Adults will find the story enjoyable too if they don't mind some YA fiction tropes of love interests, awkward interaction, and pacing that quickly jumps from one action scene to another.
