I rarely use twitter, but I love books of this style, and even though it had a slow beginning, I couldn't put it down about halfway through and then the ending.. holy f bomb!!! Read this book!!
OMG....I am so shocked. I just ... omg!! This was soooooo good. I just didn't expect that ending and it completely rocked me. OMG.....this was amazing.
Reading Follow Me Back is like opening your favorite bag of candy and eating it all in one sitting. It’s that good. I don’t remember the last time a book had such a high level of suspense that made me want to read it all in one sitting. This fish couldn’t resist the hook. And this comes from a person who typically avoids all contemporary if I can—and especially anything to do with boy bands or celebrities. So I was 100% impressed.
Tessa has agoraphobia, something I can personally relate to, and uses Twitter and her obsession of Eric Thorn as a coping mechanism. Eric Thorn is a pop singer, feeling trapped by his fame and fans. Fame aside, the two aren’t really all that different. But it’s not easy starting a relationship when one of them is catfishing. There are twists and turns, and none of them are predictable.
I connected so much with Tessa, at her best and at her worst, because I have and still am experiencing what she’s going through—minus a certain situation—but it’s nice seeing this portrayed in a book that doesn’t look down upon the person. As for Eric, I also understood where he was coming from. The ending (omg!!) left me feeling confused and conflicted. What even happened? I have theories but I need answers.

To my utter astonishment, Crave, Pt 1 is the very first book by EK Blair I’ve read (hides in shame). It was time to rectify that and I was drawn to the storyline, a YA love story, but I knew it would be edgy. She just has that reputation for emotional and consuming stories. In Crave, High schoolers Kason and Adaline battle his demons and Adaline’s self-doubt from the rejection she suffers from her broken family.
Pivoting between Kason’s view and Adaline’s, Blair quickly sets up each of their backstories, Kason’s social standing and addiction and Adaline’s status as a new student in a Florida beach community. The story is driven by interactions with school friends and family and the complexity of their emotions for each.
Kason is a very complex character and it was easy to find sympathy for his disorder and the shame that accompanies his compulsion. Adaline and Kason experience more than the usual drama of first love and the theatrics of high school life. The story is fast paced Blair leaves us off with a jaw dropping event that left a pit in my stomach. Adaline’s world is thrown into a spin and I’m anxious for Pt 2 and to see what comes next for Kason and her. 5 Stars and recommendation!!

This is book 1 in a 2 book series.
Why did I say that first? I wish I had known that before I started the book. Onward!
I devoured this book mainly because of the formatting. Don't get me wrong: the characters, storyline, writing style - all amazing. But it's the formatting that showcases all of those elements so beautifully. Cut into Tessa's world, Eric's world, and police interrogation reports, this book kept me engaged 100% of the time. I had so many mysteries to solve! I was rooting for Tessa to overcome her past and her fears and for Eric to find someone who accepted him for the person he was rather than his star status. Both characters have many missteps in their relationships, which makes them more realistic. No one is perfect.
I am on board for book 2!

Spoiler
The last police report though...it didn't do anything to HELP my reading experience. It actually detracted from it. However, anyone who knows the characters will have no problem deciphering it. I just didn't care for it. Although it did have me jumping on the author's Wattpad account to make sure my interpretation was correct.I am on board for book 2!
The story reads like a fan fiction. Probably one that I’ve might have written when I was fifteen years old. It’s super cringe worthy a lot of the time. It was okay for the most part but what got to me was that she’s supposed to be agoraphobic but now that she’s with ~*~the~*~ Eric Thorn it’s like it disappeared.
That’s my take just from the ending of the book. As someone who has dealt with agoraphobia and some social anxiety people like us tend to not run off to Mexico with their pop star boyfriend. Girl is more likely to have PTSD than agoraphobia.

MAJOR SPOILERS AND RANTING AHEAD
Being a fellow Wattpad person, I had to supper my fellow writers on the platform, so I picked up this book.
I knew it would be cheesy and sappy. I was expecting it. The only reason I didn’t give it 0 stars is because at least it had some depth to it.
Ok now what the ACTUAL F with the ending? I like a plot twist as much as the next person but it has to ACTUALLY MAKE SENSE. There has to be some clues where readers can follow it up until that pivotal moment. It can’t just be like “Oh! Here I am!”
I don’t know if the publicists told the author to add it or not but it is seriously dumb. Makes no sense. At all. No clues or hints.
It was already weird with the whole angle of what happened to Tessa that summer to make her the way she is now but adding THAT at the end? No. Sorry. It felt more like a last ditch attempt to make the book exciting.
Am I going to read the sequel?
That’s a hard NO.

This was a quick read. And that’s about it. 200 pages of lead up to them meeting and about 100 pages of the thriller it purports to be. Even the climactic scenes were off. The dialogue didn’t fit. It seemed disjointed and the interludes of the police interrogation didn’t help. It all seemed forced. It wasn’t a terrible read by any means. But the relationship felt very off. A celebrity falling for a fan girl? And he fact that she had as many pictures of him as her stalker did of her felt insincere. Definitely won’t be continuing with this series. It was too long for the pay off. Over 200 pages of build up for nothing.
Dear Lord that ending f****d me up. Welp this gonna be a sleepless night.
I haven't read a YA book in awhile so I had to change my way of thinking with this one. I almost forgot the angst of being a teenager. Full review will be posted during blog tour around the release date.
