A witch goes back home to oversee 50 year old traditional witch competition for town's magic mayor. Reconnects with bestie & old flamces & exes. Queer bi sexy times & hometown magic abounds.

This was a fun read :) Will definitely be checking out the sequels, this was a fun audiobook to have on while crafting. The magic system was interesting and I an intrigued by the whole extended cast of characters. Some of the moments fell a bit flat for me, but I had fun :)

It was difficult to surmount the weak prose to enjoy the Triwizard Tournament taking place in Thistle Grove. I looked forward to the characters being in their 30s, but they are stuck in teenage language: “so metal” “that tracks” and everything being about “vibe.” The main character, Emmy, runs away from her entire life because her first boyfriend treated her badly. Top it off with the love interest Talia, who is just too-cool-for-school all the way down to her vegan handbag and I was back on high school. No thanks.

Interesting world building let down by the main character not taking part in it.
