3.5/5 -- Was addictive overall, but at some points, the story dragged on in ways that made me roll my eyes. This novel's plot is somewhat less linear than the first book. Still, it was fascinating to finally see Nova after so much talk about it in the first book.

Elise Kova can't keep doing this 😭😭😭 The stakes are getting so high and I love how many POVs I get!

This is another great addition to this trilogy. I loved learning more about the dragons. I thought the multi-POV is so well done and the exact view you want for the scenes they speak. Florence really came into her own, since she was on her own. The slow burn finally ignited in the best way. There were a few twists I didn't expect. I'm so interested to see how this story continues. I also wonder how much the king actually has power. This book gave me a different perspective that I wasn't expecting. I also really love all the women in this book, regardless of what side they are on. They all have strong characters and do things based on their beliefs and what they feel is right. I love that they have power and use their wits.

Overall, this is beautifully written. This story is so vivid and unique. I'm excited for the next book.

Dragons of Nova picks up right where The Alchemists of Loom left off. Like the first book this is told from multiple points of view. Arianna, Cvareh and Florence are the main three with the introduction of Cvareh’s sister Patra and the Yveun the King of Nova.

Petra and the King are and have always been rivals because they belong to different Dragon Houses. Petra wants to see Yveun dead because she doesn’t agree with the decisions he makes and the power he holds over everyone. Seeing how these two viewed each other and despised each other and their views was like watching a very detailed and intricate sword dual.

Meanwhile back on Loom, Florence is still working on gathering the different guilds to come together and face the Dragons. She is facing roadblock after roadblock, but she never gives up. I have come to admire Florence more and more in this book. She is like the Vagabond in the book, never really belonging to any one guild, but seeing and learning about herself and the guild views by interacting (as much as the guilds let her) with them. I have a feeling that in the 3rd book, Florence will truly shine and have a major impact on the resistance against the Dragons.

There is a good amount of violence in this book, and it fell in pretty well with what was going on in Nova, and how their society works. You also see how the Fenthri, Chimera, and non ranked dragons are treated. If you are not a ranked member of the houses, you don’t seem to matter.

I highly enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to see what happens to Arianna, Florence and Cvareh in the third book The Rebels of Gold.

I loved this so much, but I was also so bored. The storyline is fantastic. I’m absolutely enthralled by this world and the characters and the story that the author is weaving through them. However, I am consistently bored when I have to read chapters by anyone other than Arianna or Cvareh. Florence’s chapters were important to the story, and they were sometimes interesting, but they just dragged for me. The Dono’s chapters were so dumb and honestly the man seems like an idiot, but yet he is also smart, I don’t really know it doesn’t make sense. Also, I feel like Arianna‘s character just switches personalities at the drop of a hat which could get kind of annoying. Cvareh is literally the cutest, I freaking love him with my whole being. It made me so mad every time Arianna was a jerk to him. I feel like me and this book were kind of a love-hate sort of thing, it took me four days to read it as compared to me reading the first book in one day. Four days is a long time for me to be reading the same book as I usually read much faster than that. All that being said, I really did like this bookat a base level, the first book was amazing, and I do want to know what happens next. I might just have to take a break and read something else though before I read the last book.

Holy hell, this book was insane. I was ready to dive back into this truly unique world and see another, more ruthless side of it. There's so much I want to talk about, but I don't know where to begin! Let's start by saying that this book is much, much, much more violent than the previous one. Not in the conventional sense, but good Lord, the Dragon world is absolutely ruthless. And I loved it. I was always tense, always wondering what would come next. There were two more added perspectives, ambitious Dragon queen Petra and big, merciless baddie Yvuen, and they were just as interesting and engaging as unstoppable Arianna, loyal Cvareh, and all-around-wonderful Florence. The story was very strong, intriguing, and complex, which I loved, and the ending will leave you all but screaming for more. Huge twists and shocking reveals, and a final chapter that will have me biting my nails until December. This series truly stands out in high fantasy, and I can't recommend it enough, though it's not for the faint of heart. It's a brutal, bloody, wild ride from start to finish, and I need to see how it ends!
