I don't believe I have ever read of a more beautifully selfless love than that of Kyland and Tenleigh. This story fills me with hope.
Mia Sheridan's writing is simply stunning. It makes me feel and it makes me believe. It sweeps me away in the kind of love story I can only hope to be a part of someday.
I absolutely loved the book club portions of Kyland, and I especially love this quote:
"...Maybe we all saw books differently based on our own hearts."
This is so very, very true. Some books just hit you right in the most vulnerable part of your heart and make you FEEL. For me, Kyland was one of those books.
I loved how Kyland and Tenleigh opened up to one another and shared the deepest and most secret parts of themselves with each other. The angst and tension, the selflessness and love in this story were absolutely outstanding.
I absolutely ADORED this book!
"Half agony, half hope. Half pain, half ecstasy. Half grief, half joy. Half my downfall, half my savior." -Kyland

4 Heart-warming Stars
Mia Sheridan takes us to Dennville Kentucky to get to know the people who live up the Appalachian Mountains. The story takes us in the journey of Kyland and Tenleigh, two people who come from the same background and fall madly in love. The people of the Appalachian mountains are extremely poor but have the biggest hearts and those characteristics apply to Kyland and Tenleigh, who I'll refer to as "Kyleigh" throughout the review.
Kyland, our title character, is the epitome of tall and brooding. But he has the biggest, BIGGEST heart I've ever encountered. Throughout the story you see why Kyland does the things he does. You're mad at him for it, but later on you understand why he did it and you fall even deeper in love with him. He is hard-working, intelligent, and has big plans once he wins the Tyton Coal Scholarship.
Tenleigh, is a sweet country girl with family problems of her own. She's just as smart and also has plans for when she wins the scholarship. She's passionate and fragile at times but she shows her strength multiple times.
Kyleigh don't have a rough start, however they have a rough middle. Once they meet it's sunshine and rainbows but something happens and of course with every love story, we think it's over. So many misunderstandings and it's one of the things we get mad at Kyland for, but towards the end you see why he did what he did and it's hard not to swoon!
The only reason I don't give this book 5 stars is because it felt kind of predictable to me, except for one part, who won the scholarship. But the rest of the book, I felt like I knew what was going to happen next. Also, I felt like it dragged out during certain times.
Mia Sheridan has a way of writing characters that are hard to hate. Archer (my favorite), Calder, and now Kyland. Mia is definitely gifted with writing heart-wrenching stories that grab us and take us for an emotional ride and I love the torture.

I really liked this one, it was full of heartbreak and hard times and I like how it ended. I will say I had a few moments of "well that's actually not love but codependency" but overall I love the way this author writes and I could easily over look it!
Another great Mia Sheridan book! Really emotional story and characters. I love how different all of her characters are and the depth of back story and passion to her MCs. A heartbreaking romance that is well worth the read!
Effing A. What a wonderful story. I've only read Archer's Voice from Mia Sheridan but I knew I would enjoy this one. Oh, Kyland. Such a sweet, generous, humble heartbreaker. My little heart was aching in the middle of this story. Tenleigh the fierce, smart, headstrong firecracker endured so much to get where she was but was missing her puzzle piece. Ugh! So many feelings. Mainly love. I really really loved this book. I say it a lot I know, but Mia's stories are a breath of fresh air. They're so unique and special.
I loved this super angst book. It was all about new love sacrifice and second chances.
Eu quis chorar.
A história é tão linda.

"Sometimes my left felt so small. And I had to wonder why those of us who were given small lives, still had to fell pain so big. It hardly seemed fair."
Growing up in a mining town where everyone went without food, clothing, heat and things most people take for granted Tenleigh and Kyland both had one goal, to win the Tyton Coal scholarship and leave this town and never look back. And then one day everything changed, no matter how much they both fought it their connection was something too big to ignore. "Maybe it was the understanding of hunger that existed between us." Giving into their connection and understanding and accepting that when they graduated they were both leaving and never looking back they treasured their time together. Until graduation came and they both ended up with broken hearts.
I fell in love with Tenleigh and Kyland as they showed so much strength and compassion. A person may have all the money in the world and still live a lonely life, while someone with absolutely nothing can have the most fulfilling life in the world. This book shares the story of survival for not only Tenleigh and Kyland but for a town that often goes forgotten to everyone else, but a community that gives even when they have nothing.

I can't really decide whether to give this 4 or 5 stars because while I did really like it, there were some elements that I didn't like. Overall, though it was really good and I would definitely recommend giving it a try!
