I'm just not impressed with this spinoff series. I don't think Garcia is writing with the same fun, captivating voice as in the Beautiful Creatures series, and her characters are so flat! I thought Ridley's thought process in this book was so scattered and boring, and the change of perspective was too slow and unconnected and made me feel disconnected from the books rather than intrigued. I hope she ends the series because the passion is totally gone.

The only reason I gave this three stars is because the book felt like a transition book and not something I could enjoy entirely as one volume in the series. After the MAJOR cliffhanger in the first book, I was expecting a roller coaster ride in the second book, but it felt more like a traveling montage. Still, I look forward to the next book and have high hopes it won't disappoint.

I really enjoyed Dangerous Deception, but the only major thing I disliked about it was the ending, and that's because it wasn't what I was expecting.
I loved seeing the story progress through the perspectives of the different characters (those being Link, Nox and Ridley - usually in that order). It kind of reminded me of how TV shows tell their stories, except with less confusion as it is all one story arc and not multiple ones at once (I'm glaring at you, True Blood).
One of the things I really commend about the novel is that its not a copy of Beautiful Darkness, or a repeat of Dangerous Creatures, the story is completely fresh; at least something I've never personally read before. I only wish it were longer.
If you're a fan of Link, like me, then you will enjoy this book. If you're a fan of Nox, unlike me (I mean I like him but Link is my babe), then you will enjoy this book. However Ridley, despite having multiple chapters from her point of view, feels very absent from the story. Also, don't expect much Link/Ridley (do they even have a ship name?) action, because they spend 90% of the novel separated.
All in all, this is a really enjoyable story, and I'm looking forward to seeing the next installment of the Dangerous Creatures series (assuming there is a next installment... pretty please?)

Part of me hoped that Ridley and Nox would be in some kind of dream state, and Link would be the knight in shining armor and rescue them. This was not the case. Link and Ridley thought that the worst was behind them. They were going to drive across the country and finally experience some real freedom. So of course they lives plummet into a new disaster.
I have so much love for the Caster Chronicles and I have absolutely been loving this spinoff.
Link and Ridley are one of my favorite couples in YA. They fight, they care for one another and they have deep insecurities when it comes to their relationship. It is a bit dramatic but also one of the more believable couples.
This book brought back some great characters from the Caster Chronicles. It showed how evil our villain is and it was creepy. I really enjoyed this book. I love how it ended in such an angsty cliff hanger.
I can’t wait t see how they end this series. I give it a B+.
