“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

I wish I read this book when I was a child.

Anxiety and Wonder

With every passing year, I grow increasing disillusioned by the lack of wonder, excitement and awe within our everyday lives. The most salient example of an area of life that lacks such qualities, for me at least, is that of work. As a young man, attempting to figure out what to do for work is an incredibly anxiety-producing pursuit. What's more, because of the importance of work in our culture, it is often the epicentre of our decision making. Who do you spend most of your time with? What books do you read? What city do you live in? Where do you think you'll live next? For me, such questions lead to an even bigger question, what is life about?

To me, this book was able to answer that question, perhaps not completely, but in part. We must engage in child-like play, free of judgement and full of life.

“The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched. They are felt with the heart”. Words cannot describe how much I love this little book. The way the narrative structures over time and the little prince gains wisdom is wonderful. I cry every time I read this. My favourite of all time.

I am glad I fin ally had a chance to read this. It was a sweet tale. It felt very condensed. I could see children loving this book. I think my only issue is this is referenced in so many other works and I found that the references covered the main topics. Maybe I am too much of a grown up which would be sad. It is true that us grown ups need a lot of things explained to us.
