Wolff’s vampire love story is surprisingly getting into something satisfying. The bond of Grace and Jaxon’s is thrown into dangerous waters and Hudson will only complicate it. We also do get more world building and surprises that really brought me in. B+ (83%/Very Good)

Comment exprimer ce que je ressent? Je suis toujours aussi mitigée par rapport à ce monde et l'écriture.
Je trouve dommage que l'action n'est mené que par un groupe d'adolescents. Je veux dire, tout de même, on parle de politique et de guerre et même si c'est de la Fantasy, où est la réelle implication des personnages politiques qui peuvent influencer et aider le groupe de jeune?
Mis a part les parents de Flint et des dragons qui sont du même côté que les jeunes, on dirait qu'ils ne prennent pas vraiment part à la guerre en jeux.
De plus, on apprend rien sur les implications et ce que veux vraiment le camp adverse. Comme pourquoi les loups sont du côté des vampires ou même les sorcières? Pourquoi suivent ils un mégalomane? En fait, rebondissements arrivent un peu comme un cheveux sur la soupe...
Bref, pour moi ce n'est pas assez approfondie...
Ooooh et bon dieu Grace en a mis du temps avec Hudson!
Points positifs: De nouveaux personnages intrigants, des découvertes intéressantes sur le monde, quelques réponses aux questions posées dans les tomes précédents (mais sans plus).
Pour conclure, ce tome est bien, perso j'ai été prise dans l'histoire mais il me manque tellement de chose pour en faire un livre parfait...
Je lirai la suite plus tard en tous cas, ce qui me fait peur c'est le nombre de livres qu'il reste haha je me demande comment va se dérouler la suite des événements.

WHAT HAPPENED.
I mean. No. Seriously.What the fuck just happened???
So.. heres the deal. I was super super super looking forward to this book series to come out last year. So much so that I preordered it, and then when it didnt get to my house on release day, my husband did an in store pick up at Barnes and Noble for me so that I could read it that day, so I actually now own 2 copies.
I was... incredibly disappointed by the first book. It was like a 3.5 for me. Which is fine. Its a YA vampire romance. Academy setting. It makes sense that the characters would be slightly immature and annoying and on top of it it was the author’s first book. So, fine. I was willing to give the next book a chance.
I did. Again- it was just ok. I thought there was a fuck ton of manufactured drama but it was still like a 3 star read, and the cliffhanger (and Hudson in general) were descent enough that I was somewhat excited for this third book. There were a lot of new releases this week, so I started it on Thursday night and finished it just now, on Saturday morning. It was like 680 pages and that was about 380 pages too long.
I feel like I just lost all of my brain cells.
I apparently go fucking *off* when I find a book I absolutely hate, and I also tend to make lists in my reviews, and that’s worked well for me thus far so why fix a good thing? (I’m looking at you, Grace, you fucking moron.)
Shall we begin?
1. The Age of the Vampires
Something that has bothered me for a few books now and continued to bother me badly while reading this book is the fact that these vampires- Hudson, Jaxon and The Order- are all like 200+ year old vampires, right? Why are they at a school filled with 15-18 year old kids? Why do they act like 15-18 year old children? Why is it so god damned skeavy that they're dating and hooking up with humans/wolves/witches that are 180+ years younger than them?
Also, sorry to say but there is no fucking way an immortal vampire over 200 years old is going to wait 8 months for a 17 year old girl to kiss him. There's also no way they would put up with her incessant whining and crying and bitching and drama but that’s a whole separate point of its own that we'll get to later.
So how do these vampires age? Are they born and age like normal people until they hit a certain age and then they stop aging/aging so quickly? If thats the case how god damned terrible to be stuck in the body of a 17 year old boy for hundreds of years. Do they just age slowly from the start? Because the way the author makes it sound, Hudson has been all over and done tons of things and read thousands of books so it cant be that- no one with the emotional and mental maturity of, say, a 13 year old boy, is going to do the academic bullshit that Hudson has.
It. Makes. No. Sense.

I’m not quite sure why the author thinks what throwing around the word “fuck” does for this series. Frankly it comes off as immature and trying too hard to be edgy and its just so weird. Why write a YA series then having every page include the word "fuck?" All that does is scream “this is YA but its trying really hard to be cool.” There arent any sex scenes, but they do take their pants off

Dass sie die Erste ihrer Art seit über 1000 Jahren ist und man ihr nach dem Leben trachtet, ist dabei noch das geringste. Grace steht vor einer Entscheidung, bei der ihre Liebe und ihre Zukunft auf dem Spiel stehen …
Die Story:
Es hat bis zum dritten teil gedauert, und damit knappe 2000 Seiten… aber ich bin endlich in der Geschichte angekommen. Weg vom Schulalltag, damit kann ich einfach nichts anfangen. Im ersten drittel ist wirklich einiges passiert, auch sehr viel neues, neue Umgebung, neue Protagonisten und (wer hätte es gedacht) auch mal etwas Spannung. Wir lernen endlich mal etwas mehr von der Welt kennen, fernab der Katmere Academy. Einige Fragezeichen aus dem zweiten Teil wurden aufgelöst, neue Fragen sind entstanden. Insgesamt wurden mir die Mini-Plots leider zu schnell wieder aufgelöst. Etwas mehr Spannung hätte erzeugt werden können, wenn man manchmal etwas länger hätte rumrätseln müssen, was es jetzt damit auf sich hat. (Vor allem, wenn man die Dicke des Buches in Betracht zieht.)
Abschließend kann ich aber Sagen, dass mich die Story in diesem Teil am Meisten gepackt und überzeugt hat.
Worldbuilding:
Hier lag (meiner Meinung nach) der Fokus in diesem Band. Wir haben echt einiges der Welt kennen gelernt, unter anderem die Stadt der Riesen und das Gefängnis. Außerdem haben wir einen Abstecher an den Drachenhof gemacht.
Das Magiesystem wurde daher auch um einiges klarer und es kamen viele, viele neue Elemente zu den bereits bekannten hinzu! Was das angeht bin ich echt begeistert. Toll, toll, toll!
Charaktere:
Grace war leider auch in diesem Teil nach wie vor ein schwieriger Fall. Sie handelt kindisch und ist sehr empfindlich. Alles muss sich um sie drehen und für wirklich jeden Mist gibt sie sich selbst die Schuld. Teilweise so zusammenhanglos, dass ich mich so dermaßen genervt hat, dass ich das Buch erstmal weglegen musste. Spoiler alert: Das kam oft vor.
Sie ist super schnell zickig geworden und bei jeder Kleinigkeit eingeschnappt. Kurz gesagt: Eine sehr anstrengende Person. Sie macht literally NICHTS, aber ist dann immer ganz arm dran. Ist müde, kann nicht mehr etc. Dabei haben alle Anderen die Arbeit gemacht.
Hudson hat mir im Gegenzug tatsächlich ganz gut gefallen. Armani-Anzug tragender, lässig-cooler Typ.. Jupp, i like. Klar, auch er wirkt sehr jung (was immer komisch bei Vampiren ist, denn sie sind ja eigentlich viel älter… naja.) aber bei ihm hält es sich tatsächlich noch im ertragbaren bereich.
Über die ganze Entwicklung mit Jaxy-Waxy bin ich natürlich überhaupt nicht traurig gewesen. Ich bekenne mich: Ich gehöre absolut zu Team Hudson.
Schreibstil:
Der Schreibstil an sich ist eigentlich echt gut. Es lässt sich locker leicht lesen, alles ist bildlich beschrieben, dabei aber auch nicht unnötig in die länge gezogen (was die Beschreibungen angeht). Wiederum wird sich dann bei anderen Punkten so lang im Kreis gedreht, dass ich gewillt bin einige Seiten zu überfliegen, um dann festzustellen, dass ich nichts verpasst habe. Das ist etwas schade.
Aufgrund der (unnötigen) Länge des Buches, gibt es daher einige Längen und die Spannungskurve gleicht daher einer Achterbahnfahrt.

Die Story hat an sich sehr viel Potenzial. Dieses wird aber leider etwas kaputt gemacht durch eine super nervige Hauptprotagonistin und einiger sehr cringer Situationen.
Obwohl es stellenweise echt spannend war, bin ich der festen Überzeugung, dass der ganzen Reihe jeweils 300 Seiten weniger gut getan hätte.
Aufgrund der interessanten Story im Gesamtpaket und des echt tollen Worldbuildings werde ich die Geschichte weiterhin verfolgen. Empfehlen würde ich es aber eher der jüngeren Fraktion (und Junggebliebenen, natürlich :*)
