I really enjoyed the first half of this book, but the 2nd half was meh. I'm not really what was so great about Aidan and why Cordie was so infatuated with him. He hardly spoke, except to tell her what to do, and all he seemed to want from her was sex. And then the ending sucked. There's all this build up and then, poof! it's over and resolved and the bad guy is going to jail. Talk about a let down (not that he was going to jail, but that there was no big moment around it.)
I liked the personality and the writing style was very engaging. The characters interacted with a lot of chemistry. I love Cordie’s little friend group. However, the plot was extremely slow and frankly not well thought out. It’s insanely boring when the main character is kept so far out of the action like Cordie is. The Boston/home renovations stuff took up an unneeded amount of story real estate. Like, your lifelong friends have moved to the same city for the first time in a while and you’re going to f*ck off to Boston for barely any reason? I don’t buy it.
The antagonist was extremely short sighted and one-dimensional. The Rock Point senator stuff ended up being really satisfying. I kinda wish he’d been the main villain instead. The romance and ultimately the ending was incredibly bland. Not a very exciting book, just kinda friendly with a few exciting spots and talking about real estate. 2.5 stars.

I didn’t feel like there was really much chemistry between Cordie and Aidan, but I liked the mystery element. The ending was a little underwhelming.

Julie Garwood isca favorite writer. She usually has witty dialogue. However, this book felt like the plot was more of a vehicle for the sex and physical attraction rather than a well developed story.
