This book is a follow up of “Outlive” for me. It was an eye opener that is changing my relationship to food. I really did not use to care about carbs, thinking that my body could easily deal with it. This book shows how to “dress your carbs” with fiber, fat and protein to avoid glucose spikes. Glucose spikes equals insulin spikes and you want to avoid that regardless of whether you are diabetic or not.

It’s early days, I can’t say for sure that following the tips in this book will lead to a smaller waistline and more energy. However, I had changed to a savory breakfast already in July and have overall become less hungry and more energetic. However, I have also increased my level of exercise by a lot (>100%, I have run more than 400 km in two months), and that also dampens my appetite, funnily enough. Except it’s not funny or strange- I usually exercise after dinner, and have thus kept my glucose spikes from happening. Anyway, you can’t outrun a bad diet. Cut the ultra processed food out of your diet, dress your carbs, eat salad first, and you are on the path to better metabolic health.

Edit: I lost two kg in my first week of dressing my carbs and proceeding to cut out all added sugar, sweeteners and the last remaining processed food on my standard weekly menu. No diet aside from this and no hunger. Yes, I also exercise quite a bit, but I have been doing a lot of that for ten years. It’s not the exercise that determines my waistline, it’s the quality of what I eat, and as little refined sugar as possible. No juice or Softdrinks, no sugar or syrup in caffeinated drinks.

Pot evalua doar scriitura acestei cărți, pentru că, pentru restul, voi aștepta să îmi dau cu părerea după ce îi voi pune sfaturile în practică

I agree with some of the other reviews about this book in that it does come off a little “advertise-y,” but beyond that, Inchauspé informs readers with grounded science and key, tangible takeaways for improving one’s relationship with managing blood sugar spikes. I’ve used a few of her “hacks” and have already noticed a difference in my mood, energy, and appearance. Personally, I would recommend this book to those who may suffer from blood-sugar/insulin deficient related illnesses (diabetes, PCOS, etc…), those at risk for these illnesses, and those just seeking to feel better in these big ‘ol meat suits we’re all in.

Great book, really informative about the food we eat and has changed the lens I know view food.

Very much reads as pseudoscience--10 easy ways to reverse your diabetes, lose weight, sleep better, etc. and you will see results really fast, and she has saved so many people who found her on Instagram. She is touted as a biochemist, but I don't see anything that says she has actually worked as a biochemist or done any professional research. So it appears we have someone who has a personal interest, an ability to read research, and now has information to share that doctors just don't have. Additionally, studies that use 8 people are not really studies to be quoted as truth--interesting beginnings, but nothing really there yet.

That said, none of the things she recommends are out of the ordinary or would be dangerous (and some of them I've already heard about as recommendations for general healthy living), so I'll give it a try--and presumably will see results almost right away. If it all does turn out to be the miracle everyone is looking for (but has so far really only been available on her Instagram account), I'll come back and consider bumping it up to a 3.5--even if the techniques turn out to work, the way in which the information is presented is just not great.
