You know when you start a book and you just know that its going to be a 5 star read? Yeah thats what happened when I started Infinite Country.

This is a story that is heartbreaking but so beautiful and not only because of the poetic writing of Engel but because it is a common story for all migrants, immigrants that hits close to home.

This story follows the POV of each member in the family. We start with the parents Elena and Mauro who left Colombia for a chance at the American Dream. They left Colombia with the intention of bringing money back to their homeland to have a better life, however we see them come to the realization that achieving the American Dream comes with a price.

I really enjoyed this. I wish I could've spent more time with the second generation and could've gotten to know Elena better, but ultimately this was a really good story. I highly recommend the audiobook!

There was a new feeling. A coming to the end of something while knowing it was the beginning of something else.

This novel tore at my heart strings and I cried reading the ending. A story about love, family, and the lengths we will go to better our own lives and those we care most about. How sometimes our choices require sacrifices beyond what we ever could have imagined.

I enjoyed the different povs tho I was confused about who was speaking at times.

It was such a quick yet deep read. My story is very similar to this family. The feeling of not quite belonging and being looked at as an outsider is hard to express. It's so sad knowing 100000s of people live lives like this. Hard working and giving yet looked down on. I do wish the book was longer.

While the topic is very interesting, the execution fell flat. Just a very superficial way of telling a different twist on the immigrant‘s story. The book intended to be artsy fartsy/ DIFFERENT but all it caused was confusion.

A different kind of immigrant story. This is a story of a family from Colombia that enters legally and then overstays their visa. I thought it was good, but not outstanding. I didn't like the narrative so much; felt no connection to any of the characters. It felt very superficial.

Lyrical story of a Colombian family and their love and experience across and crossing borders. Beautifully written and I’m glad I read it, but pretty slow for me (although it’s short).
