Solid 3.5 stars. It's a fun, crazy sci-fi thriller in the vein of Michael Crichton. I quite liked the characters, particularly Teacake and Naomi. Roberto is good in a different way. The book start off with a bang, but feels a smidge slow at the third mark. Some of it is way beyond belief, but it makes for an entertaining read. Of course, there's the usual, "climate change is bad--look at what happens" plotline, but whatever. If you need a quick, fun read, give it a go.

Jakten på en ny Michael Crichton-bok fortsätter. Och då menar jag inte från den döda författaren själv, utan en ny, fräsch som kan ge samma känsla som hans bästa böcker gav när min dåvarande nyblivna pojkvän (numera make) satte dem i handen på mig tidigt 2000-tal.
Ja, jag inser att känslan kan ha påverkats av situationen mer än böckerna i sig, men säga vad man vill om Crichton - han hade hittat sitt format och kunde skriva, trovärdigt(ish) och spännande.
Koepp har en viss koppling till de där bästa böckerna - han har jobbat på storfilmer, som bland annat Jurassic Park.
Det märks. Cold Storage kommer inte bli någon storfilm, men kanske en medioker Netflix-thriller med halvkända skådisar. Den är i alla fall skriven så. Vilket inte är enbart negativt! Det är charmigt, det händer lite coola sci-fi(ish)iga saker. All bakgrundshistoria på karaktärerna känns dock mer som något de där skådisarna får i handen för "djup", snarare än litterärt motiverade, och för att vara en katastrof-thriller händer det ovanligt lite, utspritt på lite för många sidor.
Det är ingen Crichton-bok - eller känsla.
Men som sagt, lite mediokert charmigt. Jag var oengagerat underhållen ett par timmar.

Very entertaining yarn! Koepp’s writing style and characters put me in mind of Carl Hiaasen - deliciously imperfect people with horrible things happening to them! Thoroughly recommend.

Super quick popcorn read. You can tell the author is a screenwriter by the way action is described, and emotions and motivations are thoroughly thought out.

The author has a fun tendency to personify objects and animals, which make for a neat change of pace. 

Nothing earth shattering here, but the action was enjoyable and the characters seemed real enough.
