The Identicals

I think this is my second Hilderbrand novel. They seem to be an ideal beach read, although in this instance it was a perfect ‘quarantine’ read. It was an interesting story, not too serious and not too cheesy. I really loved how the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard are almost additional characters in the story.

Kind of a bummer tbh! As I’ve written, I’ve been on my EH kick, but this one didn’t hold up quite as well. I didn’t feel like I was on my imaginary Nantucket vacation and instead felt like I was in between some nonsensical family drama. Although family’s can fight over ANYTHING, I didn’t buy into their main conflicts/ strife. Nor did I buy the fact that they both had to split up to live with their individual parent and relegated themselves to the corresponding island. Despite these issues, this was still a cute read and while I wouldn’t recommend it as a starter EH novel, it’s great to fill the void while the others are on hold from your library.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF

I really enjoyed this book. However, I went into this book for what it is --- a classic chick lit beach read. The story was a little cliche and the ending seemed a little rushed (though I loved the narrative voice in the epilogue), but overall it was a great read about two sisters and their trials and tribulations. I did get a bit choked up at the end. Hence, 4 stars!

I listened to this and it was really good at some points and downright awful at others. There were times that I thought I zoned out because the narrative would skip to something else. I’d rewind and - nope- it just skips.

Not a fan of this kind of “beach read” I guess.

This was a story about twins who, for a variety of reasons, end of moving into each other's homes at a trying time in their lives. It's about how they find themselves and each again.

4.5/5

This was fine, but definitely not one of my favorites by this author.

I really enjoyed the obnoxious bratty characters here. All of their problems would have been solved had they communicated just a little. But because they refused to have even a basic conversation, I was treated to all kinds of voyeuristic drama. I was actually a little sad when it ended because I really needed to see what happened next!
