3 1/2
Actually 3 1/2. Quick easy read. Not incredibly deep, but interesting enough to keep flipping pages. Perfect beach or light read.

No no no. Not another idiotic book about twins who don’t get along! And the blame for things going bad being placed on women when there was a useless man who caused all the misery? Absolute and utter rubbish.
Not a single character was likeable. Every trope in history was thrown in this book. Horrendous in every way.

I'm marking this one a little lower than I typically mark Hilderbrand's work because I detest the Parent Trap storyline (in what world does that custody arrangement make sense or seem humane?!), but I do give her props for using that storyline as an allegory for the relationship between Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. That being said, it's very clear that she is Team Nantucket--I've always wanted to visit the Vineyard but do not want to based on this book (the traffic and taxi situation sounds horrendous, but surely Nantucket has these issues too?). There were a few characters who I found to be pretty flat and difficult to understand (Sadie, Reed, Franklin, etc.) and the characters I did empathize with still did some pretty ridiculous things (planting cocaine on a romantic rival, cough cough). I'm still glad I read it and per usual, enjoyed my romp through Nantucket, but this one was ultimately a bit too far-fetched for me.
Two beautiful islands and two identical twin sisters makes this a perfect beach read! Harper and Tabitha Frost were separated at 17 when their parents divorced. Harper went with her electrician father to Martha's Vineyard and Tabitha went with her fashion designer mother to Nantucket. Harper has few responsibilities, save her dad whose health is failing and her dog Fish. She doesn't seem to be able to keep a job for long and her decisions when it comes to dating men get her into a lot of trouble. Tabitha, on the other hand, wears couture clothing, drives a luxury car, runs her mother's clothing store and is a bismal failure at raising her daughter Ainsley. The twins are now nearing 40 and they couldn't be more different. And though only a few miles separate them, they haven't seen each other in 10 years due to a seemingly unforgiveable misunderstanding. Fate will bring them back together with explosive results when their father dies. A fun read! And now I want to visit both those islands!
Like all her books, perfect for a day at the beach.
My guilty pleasure books, where I can pretend to be on Nantucket.
I've always loved Elin Hilderbrand novels! Even though it took me awhile to read this book (busy schedule with 2 young toddlers and working full time) this book was great! Loved the story of two complete opposite sisters, I could relate to this book as me and my sister are complete opposites and spent a period of time not speaking for 7 years. Can't wait for the next Elin Hilderbrand book to come out now!
Kristen Amen This was pretty good, nothing like the Parent Trap movie, which the author said inspired it. I liked her newer books better, 28 Summers & Summer of '69.
9/23. Not sure why I didn’t remember reading this. Nothing about it was familiar. Weird. Oh well, a beach read for those times you just need something light and easy. It was cute.
Loved this. Another Elin Hilderbrand winner. I really enjoyed that half the book took place on The Vineyard. Twin sisters living on different islands brought back together after the death of their father. Loss, love, parenting challenges, friendship. Highly recommend.
