Elin Hilderbrand

Loved this. Another Elin Hilderbrand winner. I really enjoyed that half the book took place on The Vineyard. Twin sisters living on different islands brought back together after the death of their father. Loss, love, parenting challenges, friendship. Highly recommend.

I couldn't get past the writing style. Short choppy sentences all starting with someone's name. I felt like I was reading an easy reader designed for a first grader.

This was my first Elin HiIderbrand novel and I can see why so many people enjoy her writing. I really, really liked this, more than I thought I would! It was an impulse grab from the library and I read it in 2 days. Perfect summer beach read and a story I didn't think I really needed in late February, but it was a great book to curl up with and binge on.

The best Elin Hilderbrand book I’ve read in a while!
emotional funny lighthearted medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Great summer read. I've been to Nantucket twice and enjoyed both islands as the setting for this easy-to-read Hilderbrand!

Oh Elin Hilderbrand. You of the predictable novel that I gobble up in audio book form every single time you write something new because I love to dream about summer beach picnics with lobster rolls, cold rose and swims only to come home to a cottage and a romance. This book follows two twins - Harper and Tabitha - at a crossroads in their lives and what happens when they decide to switch places - Tabitha goes to Martha's Vineyard, Harper to Nantucket - for the summer. If you are a fan of Hilderbrand's work, this will be right up your alley. If you are new to her, well, I would start with Barefoot or the Castaways or even Silver Girl. Still, this story was the perfect read for summer drives.

I'm not sure I would like Elin Hilderbrand as much as I do, if I were reading her in print. But I really enjoy her novels as drive-around listening. They're colorful, 100% plot-driven (while incorporating uniquely drawn characters), and their settings are part of the narrative line. Plus-- Hilderbrand is snarky, but not too snarky.

This one was not my favorite (the Winter Street Inn series takes that award), and there were some really?? really?? moments, mostly centered on people mistaking one identical twin for the other. But the book was great fun, combining Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard locations, lore and food for a fun story.

Four stars.

Thoroughly enjoy Elin’s books, will likely read more. Made me want to visit Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard!
