I really enjoyed this one, although I don't think it quite lived up to book 1. Which I now HAVE to reread!

This is the story of Brandon, Mark's sweet friend that we met in book 1, who was abused by a teacher as a child. Brandon is still dealing with the aftereffect of this abuse, and so this book was not nearly as sexy as book 1, and had no kink, but I didn't really miss that part. It felt more natural to the story for the sexy times to have to wait for Brandon to deal a bit. When the book starts, Brandon can't even stand to be touched without flinching, but he still finds himself drawn to Alex, the cute freshman who's rushing his frat.

I thought Alex was just adorable, and it was great seeing Mark (love him, he's one of my very favorite book guys EVER) and Deacon again, and Blake, how many ways do I love thee, Blake! But are we ever going to find out what Jordan's Jackson's (this is why we need sleep people!) deal is? It's like he's a jerk, but he's a nice guy, but he's a jerk.

Holy crap, this was amazing. It was heavier/angstier than the first because of Brandon’s traumatic past, but there were plenty of lighter moments to break it up. So yeah, I cried some, but I laughed a lot more (and probably annoyed some book friends by my constant sending of quotes from the book but they were TOO FUNNY not to share!). Huge recommend for both books in this series.

There was a part where Brandon was talking to his dad, and it made me tear up. I felt for Brandon the whole book and rooted for Alex.

Brandon was one of my favorites from the first book, so I am so glad that he got his own story. And such an adorable story! And Alex is so perfect for him. He was just what Brandon needed to help overcome the trauma of his past. I was also thrilled with all the page-time Mark and Deacon got, the teases of their relationship, and the utter hilarity of the situations they found themselves.

sweet college story - something a bit different because Brandon has suffered abuse and can't be touched by anyone, so the physical side of things has to go very slow.. and so it's a slow burn.. but that makes it all the sweeter. lovely MC, and enjoyable book. the MC from book 1 feature a lot and lots of personailities altogether make it a great read. Didn't enjoy as much as the first book perhaps but nearly!

This fell a little short as a sequel. I was intrigued by Brandon's story in Mark Cooper versus America and actually thought he and Jackson might get together, but Jackson was barely in this novel (I still want to know more about him, I feel like there's something going on there!) and instead we got Alex, who likes dinosaurs and says "Ohmigod" a lot... but tbh I don't think we ever really learned much else about him. Most of the story was about Brandon, his past, and his family, and Alex was hardly developed at all.

That said, there was an amusing first-time scene that I super appreciated because neither of the characters had a clue what they were doing, and it's nice to see more realistic sex instead of epic fireworks etc.
