A cute "love conquers all" romance story. Also a bit unpredictable, which was nice.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Christine Marshall.

Having listened to, and enjoyed, Something Borrowed and Something Blue by the same author I was a little disappointed with this book. I didn’t have strong feelings either way about the topic but I did find it strange that Ben and Claudia instantly got divorced without any discussion when he changed his mind about having children.

I usually find at least one character that I love or, at the very least, root for but I found myself rather apathetic to the cast of characters in this story. Daphne was probably the most likeable and I did eventually warm a little to Claudia after the incident with her niece but generally I just didn’t particularly like her.

Whether reading or listening to a book if I can’t wait to pick it up and carry on then I know I’ve found a gem. I could take or leave this one and it took me much longer than usual to get through it as a result.

I would never tell anyone not to read a book that I didn’t love because we all have such different tastes but sadly this is not a book I would actively recommend.

Giffen has written a storyline in her novel that opens your heart for her characters. The novel follows a couple that is stuck in their own lives. In real life couples struggle to keep their love in existence, and fighting to convince themselves that they still want to be together regardless of the voice in the back of their mind. You see their break-up as an inevitable certainty, but while it's happening you find yourself disappointed that things aren't working out for them. In their attempts to cover their relationship problems the characters attempt to overwhelm their lives and minds with other things so that they don't have to admit that their relationship should end. You simultaneously want them to conceive because you too want these two people to have the happiness they deserve, and wanting them to move on from each other because you see that neither is content. The end is happy and sad at the same time, the honestly portrayed suggests that you aren't reading a book--you're hearing about a friend.

I am giving this book only 4 stars because I was disappointed how the ending turned out.

This was a really great book, and a quick read that gave you that warm feeling. If you enjoyed Something Borrowed and Something Blue then you will enjoy this book. Just know there may be a little disappointment.

I enjoyed this novel so much more than I anticipated, largely because I understood her reluctance to have children and how hard that can be when so many friends are baby obsessed. The characters were flawed but relatable and I ended up rooting for them. My only complaint was that the author seemed to wrap things up a little too quickly and neatly. It didn't feel quite as honest as the rest of the book. Overall though, I really liked this book. I give it an A-.

Claudia and Ben marry with the agreement that neither of them wants children. But a few years into the marriage, one party changes its mind and all hell breaks loose. I liked how the author took on such a serious issue, though I'm sure that things would not have played out in real life the way they did in this book at all with the nice neat packaged endings for all the characters. And I find I rather disagree with some of Claudia's decisions towards the end.

This was cute. A little slow at times and could have used a stronger resolution, but cute. Not sure about how I feel about what it says about women and the expectation of motherhood, but I think as Claudia's personal story this works.
