We visit the second in the Eve Duncan mystery series written by former romance novelist Iris Johansen. There are changes a plenty in Eve's life, from meeting a little girl as tough as Eve was herself to Joe changing his relationship from simply best friend to romantic interest.

Iris hasn't turned her back on her roots as she moves to mystery and mainstream suspense, thank heavens. I'm new to this series, but not to the author. I've read her since her early Loveswept days and thought she and Kay Hooper, another who is moving into the romantic suspense market, were some of the best.

The similarity of the subplot (on the run from the authorities while trying to catch a killer) in both the first and second book in the Duncan series does bother me. I hope it isn't a recurring theme. It will be interesting to see if Iris can continue to keep my interest. I have no doubts about her talent, but a mystery series is a difficult job to maintain. The forensic sculptor aspect is an exciting part ready for today's CSI-focused audience.

Fast paced read. Kept my attention, but nothing too exciting happened.

The second Eve Duncan book. Again, I really liked the story, though I had a hunch who the killer was from the beginning and I was right. But I enjoyed the extra romance that was thrown in.

Really enjoyed rereading this book, and knowing who the bad guy was, and the things that he said, yeah, that was pretty creepy! Can't wait to reread The Search, next!

This book was heartbreaking at times, and a little bit frustrating as well. I got super annoyed with the heroine and how she handled things. But I did like the plot line, and I was really hoping things worked out a little better for her.

I liked this second book in the Eve Duncan-series better than the first one, because it grabbed me more and I really wanted the identity of the serial killer to be revealed. Although the end is somewhat long-winded, the answer to the who-dunnit-question did come as a surprise to me.
