Funnily enough, this book is probably my least favourite thus far, even though it is Morpugo's most successful work to to date. My son enjoyed it... It wasn't as enjoyable as some of his others, but still one cracking tale. I think Morpugo bridges the literary gap between adults and children quite successfully, and I will keep reading his works to my son at bedtime because I find myself as engaged in the story as he is.

Not quite in the league with "Black Beauty" (really, what is?) but a good story for pre-teens, touching on the tragedy and foolishness of WWI with seriousness but without being too grim. I confess I got a little teary near the end. Really hope to someday see the play!

I truly mean it when I say that there are no words to describe how utterly heart-wrenching and beautiful this story was. Micheal Morpurgo's writing has a certain flow to it that is just so easy to get swept up in.

I could never have imagined that a story coming from the perspective of a horse would touch me in so many ways. The truest friendships that I've ever read about would have to be between Joey and Albert, their story had me from the start.

I wish I'd have read this sooner, because what a beautiful tale it was. Anyone who hasn't read [b:War Horse|792161|War Horse (War Horse, #1)|Michael Morpurgo|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1360677423l/792161._SX50_.jpg|1575365] yet, I would highly recommend that you do so, it's a quick and easy read, but also one with such powerful meaning behind it.

Çok duygusaldı. Sürekli gözlerim doldu.

Nice to read again. It's still such a good story

It was kind of weird to read the book from the horses point of view but it was a fun book

Was encouraged to read this by a friend and I'm glad I did (and now I want to watch the movie).

This was a bittersweet story, told from the POV of the horse in question, Joey. Despite begin a horse, his thoughts and feelings were very well written and human.

Luckily, despite everything he goes through, this story has a happy ending. I can see why it is so beloved by many people too.

Easy to read and under 200 pages - I encourage others to pick it up, even if War related novels aren't your usual cup of tea (as they are not lime either!).
