I would give this 2.3 stars, but I felt generous and rounded it up to a 3.

The first half of the book wasn't very good. It was too insta-love for me, and I ended up knowing the twists right away, the red herrings were way to obvious, that I didn't become shocked when they found the twists for themselves.

I think that the last 40% was way better than the first half, I don't know if I will continue this series. Again like the last MC romance I just read, this was a very tame MC compared to previous ones I have read. I am going to try another author and see how that goes.

I will say the most frustrating this is when
Willow knew she was pregnant and she didn't want to tell Priest and then he found out later in the book that she was pregnant and he thought it was his, until she dropped the bomb that it isn't. I feel like she should have said something right away. I hate the hidden pregnancy trope, or surprise pregnancy trope, pisses me off to no end since they could just talk about it and the problem wouldn't have happened.

Overall an okay read, if people like insta-love, age gap romance, and a weak-getting-a-back-bone- over-the-book heroine, and a buff biker prez then this is for you, if not then skip it.

Willow James shows how tough it is on young adults that age out of the system. Also how easily they can become prey. Priest comes upon someone that makes him act a little strange. Being the first book in this series, we get to learn a little something about the other men in the Heaven’s Guardians.

This story shows the reality of life in the twenty-first century – no more Mrs. Cleaver or Donna Reed world. Our author shows that this is more of the harsh reality of today’s society. But white knights still exist. They just don’t ride horses anymore. In this modern age it’s the motorcycle that has replaced the horse. Maybe this is a modern fairy tale – what Sleeping Beauty doesn’t want a Prince Charming to kiss them awake.

For me, it was getting to know this group of men and Willow that kept my attention. The tension and angst was a nice added treat but I was more interested in how the author developed her world and how it was going to play out across the series. Until I read the next book I won’t know if this could be considered a standalone. You might find that you like where this story is going so getting ready for the next book isn’t an option. Even though the ending seemed a little bittersweet it didn’t stop my need for more.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Washed In Blood is book 1 in the Heaven's Guardians MC Series. I enjoyed Washed in Blood and can't wait to continue with the series. Washed In Blood was the first book by Ashley Lane that I have read and it won't be the last. I loved Willow and Priest.
