So. Much. Fun! Finished this loveliness late last night and sweet dreams are made of these. ;)
Callie is endearing & brave. Ralston is the perfect wicked gentleman. And together they are a joy to read. What on paper seems like the tale of a young lady reforming a rake is truly the tale of two lost and lonely people finding hope and love.
This was a quick, entertaining read filled with a whole lot of heart and delicious swoons. DE-LISH-OUS. Did I mention the swoons? So. SO. many swoons. *ponders all the swoons*
Annnnd now I'm off to procure the second book. fin.

I'm not much of a romance reader, but every now and again I get the urge...
This book came highly recommended, and pretty much lived up to those recommendations. It was solid, entertaining, and sexy. I agree with some of those who point out that the swings from wounded feelings to "he's kissing me so it's OK" were a little abrupt (and a little repetitive), and she had a couple of verbal tics in the sex scenes that really got to me (laving? Perfectly good word, but use a synonym once in a while, please?), but other than that, I enjoyed it thoroughly, and will probably even read her sequels.

This is a fun historical romance. MacLean's writing style brings in a lot of humour, especially in the dialogue that had me laughing. But she also manages to write a good emotional scene as well. Callie as a heroine is quite relatable and I enjoyed her character arc as she comes into her own throughout the story. Ralston was also a decent male lead with a lot of the tropes of a historical romance rake while not being too over the top. Overall this book doesn't take itself too seriously so it ends up being a fun romance.
Lo sapete di chi è la colpa amori miei? Solo mia che ancora mi fido di tike toke
I stayed up until 2:30 reading the end of this because it honestly just kept getting better and better. I'm not one to usually rave over slow burning books, I'm all for some quick love if I'm completely honest, but this was just done SO well that I felt all the torment and the passion and just everything. God, I don't even know if I'll be able to sleep now because I'll just be going over the book in my head! It was amazing, definitely going to continue the series and I'm super glad I picked this up!
I’ve read all of Sarah MacLean’s historical romance novels except her first 3. That changed yesterday when I started reading Nine Rules and couldn’t out it down. This had everything I love about HR: banter, tension, and steamy romance. It was unpredictable where you’re tempted to expect the predictable. Callie is working on her self confidence and is vulnerable but willing to break the rules. Gabriel is an unabashed rake yet can’t help falling. I cannot wait to read the next two in the series.
Really great historical romance! Everything you could ask for from the genre and a couple that I felt were grown-ups. Yes, there were misunderstandings but none that were dragged out or overblown. Ultimately a sweet, sexy, love story between two people mature enough to love each other. Can't wait to read the rest of the series :)
Love doth make fools of us all. My book did a great job of invoking great emotions to say the least.
