this book does the one thing i despise amongst all others.

[this section will be in the female main character's pov]

wow a line break great

[this section will be in the male main's pov]
[he kisses her/looks at her/says something to her]
[wow it just jumps to hers again! wow ! wow !!!!!! WOW !!!!!!!!]

line by line this is fine but this is so much one of my pet peeves. i hate it so much. every vein in my body throbs UNsexily with GREAT ANGER. started this today because i bumped off a bunch of my others without finishing, and i think it was the heat from my angry throbbing veins that kept me reading. by the time i got to 30%, i was so cross. if you're going to approach your povs in your book, like....just fucking stick to one in each section and if you're changing then it better because someone fucking died ok.

sadly they did not die :(

Would've finished this book sooner, but I've been working overnights and preparing to move house (and I also misplaced so it took me two days to find it). But this gave me Dreaming of You vibes and if you know, I that's one of new favorite books of all time and this one was almost perfection. The beginning was a little slow and Ralston drove me a little crazy, but was still good.

This book was so much fun! I honestly fell in love with it from the title. As soon as I got to know the characters and the amazing premise of the list I was hooked. This is ridiculous and fun and it made me endlessly happy!

This is like an all-time fav I have to say. (Can you tell?)

Reading this book felt like watching Bridgerton, but if the plot actually made sense. That’s an oversimplification, but as someone totally new to the romance genre it is the only comparison I can make.

‘9 Rules’ was a rather compelling story about a 28-year-old spinster in Georgian Era England who feels she’s been put on the shelf. Feeling the societal constraints of being a lady of her age, she decides to start breaking the rules and experiencing life. She smokes, drinks, gambles, and flirts. It is really quite endearing to see this woman come to life like this. The story works.

Most scenes usually progress into some kind of sexual tension between the Lady and the Rake. Early on, it feels like scandalous courtship. They secretly kiss and embrace and tease each other. It was fun. Then, about half-way through the novel they just start having sex at the end of every scene. This was where the novel lost me. Those sex scenes just got longer and longer. I understand they are a part of the appeal for many readers, but I was not into it.

This is my first Sarah MacLean book and it’s safe to say I’m obsessed. I loved her pacing, the banter and overall just everything about this book. All the characters I felt were well written and the dialogue was just so enjoyable

Como siempre me pasa con los romances de época me son casi impodibles de soltar hasta terminar el libro.

A pesar de que el libro no fue excelente sí me gustó. Está bastante bien considerando que es uno de los primeros de la autora si mal no recuerdo.
