Some good stuff in here. Also quite a bit of filler. I like the concept of hygge as long as it doesn't get overly pretentious. A good book for the overall picture but definitely skimmable.

Audiobook
Great narration
Hygge the way of zen like living for the Danish. This little book is filled with sensible easy t follow techniques to give your moments more meaning. Light a candle, cuddle under a blanket, play board game with friends, and much more. It's about living life in the moment, simply. There isn't any hard written rule, or steps to follow it's just a path of gratitude and being present. There are a few recipes, and ideas, but mostly it's about the way the Danish have found their happy place in their world. Did I learn a lot from the book, no. Did I enjoy listening to the wonderful voice of the narrator, yes. I did learn a few things and maybe I'll take time to light a few more candles and have more game nights. I was pleased to find that I do practice many of the ways to Hygge that the book talked about. Who would have though I'm touch Hygge girl.
This would make a great gift book for friends loved ones or co workers

alright it’s not a literary masterpiece but I enjoyed being reminded to slow down. the audiobook narrator also sounded like mads mikkelsen so plus one star for that

It’s an interesting dive into danish culture and happiness science. I didn’t expect the amount of lists and recipes that it encompassed but I didn’t dislike them per se, it just made the book a bit more anecdotal and eventually very repetitive. But overall a very fun read and great for reflecting on your own habits and path to happiness!!!

If you've never lived in Europe, then the concept of hygge is unrelatable and foreign. I grew up in a third-world country and such hedonistic pursuits are impossible when the two most basic needs according to Maslow (physiological and safety needs) cannot be met.

I moved to the Netherlands roughly eight years ago and hygge is very similar to the Dutch gezelligheid. I count myself very lucky to have this opportunity to experience little conveniences simply because my basic needs are cared for. Anyway, I learned a lot from reading this. I also felt a massive sense of privilege that I get to experience hygge every day.
