Adult Contemporary Romance
4.75 true stars.
Although the sensuality is very hot and steamy, I don't think it goes far enough to be labeled Erotic.
My Smashwords copy had typos in one section.
There are a few areas that are a bit repetitive. Everything else was awesome.
The main characters, Creed and Sylvie are well developed. Their story is full of triumph over devastating circumstances. I found both characters very interesting and a lot of fun to read about.
True soul mates that could have been crushed by life, but fought for themselves and each other. There is courage, strength, and undying love on every page.

So with this book KA gave a little disclaimer in the beginning about how she came about writing about Sylvie. Sylvie was supposed to be this like kind of anti hero bad ass but I didn't really get that from her. Like yeah she could seriously kick ass and held her own but the anti hero part didn't come across for me. Not that that was a bad thing. It's just I went into it with certain expectations and they weren't exactly met. Also I had such a distorted view of Sylvie that I had no expectations of Creed so when he was also a bad ass I was very happily surprised. Their story was absolutely heart breaking and so fucked up. When Creed came back into her life and they were 'getting comfortable with each other' and he told Sylvie something about himself my heart totally broke for Sylvie. They just were dealt totally shit cards in their lives but it all works out in the end because they have each other. The story wasn't one that will stick in my head forever but I did really enjoy it while I was reading it.
This is a story of mending a tortured heart.
Kristen Ashley is from another galaxy. You can’t put her in a box, and you damn well can’t put her in a corner . You can’t compare her to any other author. She crawls over any stigma or “shoulds” of writing and says “Take that, bitch!” And you know what? You take it….because you don’t have a choice. You swallow every word and you do it with a smile….a giggle….an lol….a tear.
Creed and Sylvie have a past together, a misunderstood and tortured past. After sixteen years, they finally meet again and after talking, fighting, fucking, and making love, they find each other again and begin mending themselves and each other.
Creed
He is tortured. He is good. He is strong. He is no-nonsense. He is….Creed. He exists to love Sylvie.
“I’m not what you want ‘cause I’m what you need.”
“Baby, you can’t breathe without me.”
Sylvie
Sylvie is a badass, fighter. She is trapped, and the only one who can set her free is Tucker Creed.
“FYI, babe, I’m not a woman prone to liking fervent avowals of adoration,” I told him in an effort to get him to stop making me feel squishy happy like a big girl.
I love that Ms. Ashley includes family in all her books.
I love that I don’t have to wait until the middle of the book for the main characters to find each other. Her stories feel so good because the main characters find each other early on and I get to enjoy the ride after that .
I love that she includes a fantastic epilogue in all of her books.
I feel complete after reading her stories.
I felt complete after reading Creed.

Wow. Completely devastating. This was a difficult read.
So much bad shit happened to these two - and they just kept persevering as best they could. Sure, maybe what they ended up doing was a bit illegal, but it's what they had to do to survive. Their strength completely amazed me. Especially Sylvie - I'm not sure I could ever survive that, let alone become a strong woman afterward.
A lot happened in this one. Partly because these two characters are involved in some shady business, so there was pretty much always something unsavoury happening in the course of this book. It was well paced - I just had to keep turning the pages.

After reading [b:Knight|13565914|Knight (Unfinished Hero, #1)|Kristen Ashley|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1333056159s/13565914.jpg|19143978], I couldn't wait to get started on this story! While it was a great read, it really wasn't as good as [b:Knight|13565914|Knight (Unfinished Hero, #1)|Kristen Ashley|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1333056159s/13565914.jpg|19143978] was.
Bad things had happened to Sylvie and Tucker/Creed and it forced Tucker away from Sylvie for years. When they're forced to work together, they get a second chance at romance. My problem was, Sylvie was a very unforgiving heroine, and it seemed like she used sex like a weapon between them, rather than a way to come together. Some of Sylvie's reactions seemed a little over the top and were thus unrealistic to me, but some of them I totally agreed with her on!
The story is told in both the present day, and flashing back to the past, before converging into the present day. While I don't normally like this kind of storytelling, for this book it worked for me. The mystery ramps up a bit in this story too, which made it a good story from a suspense angle as well.
What I like about these books is that they aren't as tied in to KA's other universes, which makes them easier to pick up and enjoy. I can't wait to see what she has in store for the next book in the series!

Wow...I don't get the low reviews on this one. It was a really touching story. I loved Sylvie. LOVED her. Yeah, she swore, and she was tough, but that's how it is sometimes. We don't all wear twinsets and pearls. I find a lot of times when authors try their hand at the 'tough/badass' heroine, she's not really that tough, not really that badass, and the whole thing falls apart. But Sylvie really was tough. She really was a badass. It felt real and not forced.
Moreover, their story broke my freaking heart. And it was nice to see two people claw their way out from under so much crap and baggage. It was inspiring, and uplifting, and beautiful. And at the same time, is was real and tough and harsh. And that is why it was so damn good...

Even though Tucker Creed promised he would come back for Sylvie Bissenette it never happened and her life took a path that would have broke many, but not Sylvie. When Knight hires Creed to do an investigation, he doesn't realize that Creed was Sylvie's Creed. Sylvie wants nothing to do with Creed, but Creed is determined to get Sylvie back, all of her.
I struggled with this one, not sure why maybe my mood but I just didn't connect like I wanted to. That being said, I will reread it and try again later and probably adore it. I did this with Knight and then reread and gave it a higher rating.
