Super cute story! I feel like Nina and I have similar random thoughts. :)
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The character Nina is strongly drawn, as is her world full of book lovers and tricia nerds. Some parts are riotously funny, including some of the scenes of book club and trivia team snark. The romance is not too overdone, and the subplot about finding her long lost family is not too heavy-handed. Overall a very enjoyable read that feels intelligent but also lighthearted.

The only reason not to give it 5 stars is that the ending us just a little too neat with sage advice given from behind the grave. Like after creating this strong set of characters, the author needed a miraculous resolution to all of the conflict.

I really liked the first 28 or so chapters but the last two felt so rushed. I felt like it ended somewhat abruptly and it didn't really work for me. All in all, it was a fun read.

This book started out so good. It described her life in the bookstore, her anxiety, and her home life; it was very relatable. Then it added a lot of other things in-a family she didn't know she had and a romantic relationship, and it just seemed to be too much. It became very disconnected for me, so it was just okay.
A 3.5. I started out LOVING this book and slightly annoyed how much I liked it and wish I wrote it. But as it progressed, it got choppy and seemed to merge Princess Diaries and You’ve Got Mail with strange (yet predictable) moments at the end. I’m not sure why the author had to talk about “she was so tiny” and “he was so tall” so many times. There are already a lot of great descriptors Waxman includes that I wish she left those limiting physical appearance things out.
What a delicious book with such charming characters. Quirky, smart as heck and easy to love.
Can you spell F-U-N? Nina was fun, and just what I needed last week. In fact, she was all I could take! I love books with characters who are in love with reading as much as I am, and after this book I've made it a goal to read more "bookish books".
Nina works in a bookstore that's having financial difficulties in a big way. She loves her trivia team, her planner, reading, sometimes working our and eating healthy, and being alone.
She was raised by a nanny while her mother traveled around the world taking pictures. Nina never knew her father. Her mother thought it was better this way. She learns he died and is invited to a family meeting. That's where the fun begins! What a crazy family they are!
Pure delight...being a journal junky myself, I loved that each day started with one of Nina's journal pages!
