All the essays are good because all of Solnit’s essays are good. I liked the ones toward the beginning best. Toward the end it doesn’t cohere as well as a collection just because there is a lot of overlap in content btw essays you’re reading back to back.

Very important writing.

There are two terrible essays about male allies in this collection that bring the rest down. The rest are excellent.

Solnit's follow-up essay collection to "Men Explain Things To Me" continues its exposure of gender dynamics, from how women are silenced to the harms caused to both women and men by gender stereotypes to pushing back against criticisms of childlessness (which made me laugh and nod enthusiastically given recent "childless cat lady" comments). It doesn't age well in all cases (ex. commendation of Louis C.K) and it didn't necessarily get at a ton of new ideas for me, but I enjoy her voice and writing style.

Nothing new here for those already actively feminist but a great resource for those new to giving a flip about women.

This book just solidified my scholar crush on Rebecca Solnit. In exquisite prose, she explains where feminism is at right now, and inspires and exalts as much as she warns and frightens. I look forward to teaching it.

Eseurile lui Solnit se citesc cel mai bine la momentul oportun, când li se ivește ocazia. Ca și colecție, este o introducere bună în feminismul vestic, pe alocuri repetitivă, dar mă bucur de existența ei în traducere.

LOVED this book!!
