I’m just so impressed with how much I dislike this book. The dialogue could’ve been better, Leo’s sister is so damn annoying, and we’re given very little to no backstory for what caused Leo to be inspired to invent her new tech & if she’s actually a scientific person.
Persuasion needs regency framing to make sense most of the time— often modern retellings suffer for this. By making it Bridgerton in space, and having them be teens, it felt like the drama was earned. This was a fun read and I enjoyed the twists, although I’d kind of hoped for more progress on the broader social stuff.
And bonus points for asexual inclusion.

I loved this book so much its been a long time since I have read a sci regency type romance and I really loved this one it had its ups and downs but it was all worth it the ending was so very good one of the best I have read in awhile. I really loved the characters especially Leo and Elliot even if their romance was a rocky one it was just so good by the end I really liked the perfect ending. What I really liked about Leo was her strength of character and the fact she could still be vulnerable I found her to be a character that so she well rounded and a well written character. I also really liked Elliot once more was found out about him and why he was acting like he was what I loved most about him was his love for Leo and even with all the things that happen throughout the story he realizes just what was most important than what he set out to do before. I really loved the plot of this it was a sci regency romance with a bit of mystery and a few other things like an old flame coming back into the MC's life and how Leo never stopped loving him he didn't stop loving her either it takes awhile for the both of them to realize this I really liked how the story ended it had the best endings I have read in quite awhile. so overall I loved this book and will read more by this author for sure.
This book was such a good surprise, I absolutely loved it!

If you like fantasy or sci-fi romance with enemy to lover plot points then you will be a sucker for this book. I am more in favor of audio books and paperbacks but I read the digital version of this book in 2 days (which is a feat for me as someone with adhd lol). If you are an ACOTAR lover then you have found your next addiction after finishing the series and thirsting for more books in the same vain of literature. Bridgerton meets Star Trek, so captivating.

This is my second read of The Stars We Steal, and i wondered if it would hold up. And it totally did for me. The story/plot is definitely more complicated and twisty than Persuasion, which it is clearly based on, but it perfectly captures the angst and spirit of JA’s gorgeous novel. Leo is a lovely Anne Eliot. More modern (or rather, futuristic?), but genuine, selfless and loving. The regret, sorrow, and occasional cringey humiliation really hit all the same notes that make Persuasion my favorite Austen novel.
dnf @ 34% i know it's a pretty pathetic attempt but after last year's terrible record of 16 books on my "currently reading," i'm resolving to just move on with books that i know i'm gonna struggle to finish.
for one, the worldbuilding was just,, mindboggling and the dynamic between leo and elliot felt manufactured. there's also just a lot of pining and jealousy on leo's part.
for a persuasion retelling, i recommend diana peterfreund's for darkness shows the stars
