First I would like to thanks to NetGalley, Harlequin Teen, and Julie Kagawa for letting me receive an ARC.

Wow Julie! What a way to end the series! Not only did this book meet my expectations but it went beyond that! This book was just so good! It starts off right where The Iron Queen finished (or where Summer's Crossing finished) and takes off from there. This definitely could be considered an adventure book because that was mainly what happened. An adventure with a lot of twists, turns, and unexpected moments.

I actually was surprised how easily I transitioned into Ash's POV. The other books were in Meghan's POV which is a lot different from Ash's, but none the less I enjoyed it. I think what separates this book from the others is the complexity of the book. There are so many layers that are peeled away and examined. Ash is not just the Winter Prince. He has feelings and a lot of stuff that is revealed about his past. The same would be for Puck. I loved the interaction between the two! There were tons of funny Puck moments and also some really caring ones too. I really started to like Puck a lot more in this novel. Same with Ash. Even when you learned some darker things about his past I still felt that he was real and even liked him even more. :)

Also there was a very unexpected guest that shows up. (When I heard that there was an unexpected someone I knew it was going to be this person. I knew!!) This person was actually a lot different than I thought they would be, but they did actually change.

The ending was so perfect!! It was happy and sad at the same time. It's sad that this series is ending, but I am glad to have Puck, Ash, and Meghan go off in peace. The very last part of the epilogue was written beautifully and was just absolutely wonderful! I will be very excited to read all of the books over again and the cover for this one is so perfect!

Overall Rating

Loved hearing the story from Ash's point of view.

“Magicians” vibe - especially that one episode with Eliot and Q and the puzzle

I'm so glad I read the two novellas before starting this.

Spoiler knowing the background of the hunter/wolf was definitely nice. And i loved thats short story of puck and ash's adventure.

End of part 1:
Spoiler What if he turns mortal but she isn't anymore..?!
Omg it's Ashlyn or whatever! I can't believe it. Why isn't puck feeling this anger like ash is?
I am glad he is still somewhat fae

Spoiler NOOOOOO HE NEEDS TO PICK MEGHAN. Puck is obviously going to be with the one ash doesn't choose but it needs to be meghan ugh. The beginning says its for team puck! I am a bigger fan of her now since I was at this part. She was a great girl

Spoiler Is it just me or is the big scary gauntlet seem not that bad? I mean I feel like it should have been dragged out more. Idk I was so excited for this and then it's like oh it's over? Having the three tests made me change my mind a bit. I thought that test was going to be it and then boom hes human.

I was really excited about this book. I always liked Ash and I loved reading about him and Puck in the short story. But the first half of this book really pissed me off. I was annoyed that it seemed like Ash was only trying to get a soul because he made a promise to Meghan, I didn't feel that he actually wanted to be with her.

Then hello Arielle. At first I was like what the hell, she's dead. I know fairy's have magic and all, but still she was dead, Ash had held her while she died. I was not happy with her presence at first because obviously I wanted Ash to end up with Meghan. However, when he finally realized he wasn't in love with Ariella I was glad she had come along. That was when you finally see that it wasn't just about his promise, he wanted to be with Meghan.

Reading about Ash growing old and being forgotten was heartbreaking. Especially when he had to watch Meghan and Puck dancing. I figured that was still part of the test, but I was very concerned for him. I'd been worried that if he succeeded in getting a soul, which obviously he would, that he could be with Meghan but she would have to watch him die. So I was pleased when the Guardian told him he was "unique." Since he had a fairy soul I hope and assume that means he won't age the way a mortal would.

I was good to see that even if the future he saw became a reality that he still wanted it. He wouldn't regret a mortal life with Meghan, as long as he could have a life with her. I wish there was another book, I would love to read more about Meghan and Ash's relationship now that they can finally be together for real.

It was obvious, from the ending of The Iron Queen, that The Iron Knight had to be written. This novel follows Ash and his journey to be with Meghan once more and I have to say, while I appreciated the insight we gained into Ash's life before meeting Meghan, The Iron Knight wasn't as powerful as The Iron Queen had been for me.

Ash's narrative is still very guarded, rather unlike Meghan's and it took a while getting used to it. But like what I said before, I love finding out about Ash's past, and how he really was a Winter prince through and through; cold, heartless, unmoving, etc. I also like the brief flashes we got of the "future" during the trials, especially of
SpoilerMeghan and Kierran
. That was such a treat!

There were of course, several plot twists that I didn't see coming but that is the mark of a skillful writer. It seems Kagawa had everything planned out, which was brilliant, of course!

A definite read for all Iron Fey fans!
