Enjoyed this easy, quick read. Great characters that provoke some personal thought...especially when considering how each handles their particular situation.

Great listen on audible, each of the four main characters has a different reader with a very distinct and appropriate voice.
This is the story of four very different women brought together by a baby - the egg donor, the surrogate, the trophy wife mom, and her resentful stepdaughter. It was interesting to hear each one's perspective and how they got where they are in life. Originally you hate the trophy wife India, but gradually she becomes more sympathetic.
Might be a little too much sex talk for more sensitive readers, definitely too much for teens.

I found all four main characters well developed, the plot was a page turner, and I particularly appreciated the exploration of poverty/wealth/class differences as related to fertility. At the end of this edition, there is also a short interview of the author where she makes the point that commercial fiction written by women (as opposed to literary fiction written by men) gets undeservedly short shrift by book reviewers. I think she's right in general, and this book in particular seems to me one that should not be relegated to a "chick lit" category.

I enjoyed this much more than a few of her previous books. (Whew.)

This was not what I was expecting at all! It is a fabulous story about flawed but ultimately likeable women coming together by chance and design to create the little wonder who brings them all together as a family. While I struggled in some spots, I think this is a fun, easy and finally warm read

I liked this, and it was a quick and easy read. Sometimes the narration didn't fit the current character - I didn't believe that character would notice such a thing (or know what it was called, in one case). And the ending was pretty implausible - involving a leap of faith on one character's part when she had demonstrated no ability, tendency or wish for any such thing (before her abrupt about-face). But it was fun.

This book mentions Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, where I grew up. It's the first time I have seen it referenced in a work of fiction.

I thought this was going to be a typical women's fiction read about women and motherhood. It's not what I was expecting at all and I enjoyed it so much more for that reason. While I had a hard time believing two of the characters were in their early twenties, I liked each character, flaws and all. I wasn't sure how I wanted the story to end and I think it ended nicely.

This was a solid 3 stars, enjoyable beach read, nothing special but decently written and an interesting concept. I felt that I could feel empathy for each character which made me enjoy the book.
My key complaint is how surrogacy is represented. As a surrogate myself I felt like it was capitalizing in the more salacious aspects. I found the angry husband trope to be unnecessary and out of character for the marriage and man described to that point, and fairly inconsistent with what really happens in surrogate families.

Good writing, but not as engaging as Weiner's previous works.
