Absolutely EPIC! The perfect ending to a life-changing series! Although I was sad to leave Narnia, this was still a positively wonderful read! C.S Lewis is the best!

Well this was absolutely bizarre. I had no idea what this final Narnia book was going to be about, but it was not this.
It started off by introducing two characters - Shift, a greedy and manipulative ape, and Puzzle, a naive and trusting donkey. They find a discarded lion’s pelt, which Shift convinces Puzzle to wear in order to pretend to be the great look Aslan. Shift (acting as the spokesperson of ‘Aslan’) forces the Narnians to work and pockets the profits. From there, the book is full of murder, deception, greed and more.
Truly not what I was expecting. I actually found the passage about the forced labour quite distressing so I had to stop reading for a while. The rest of the novel was less horrific but still not good.
Not a great ending to this series. I’m disappointed to admit that I’m glad it’s over.

Love the ending but it’s hard to see the darkness come over Narnia in the early chapters. The allegories and parallels are more evident here even than in the other Narnia books. Also some of the stereotypes Lewis drew upon (specifically for the Calormenes) haven’t aged well…I think he was trying to paint them as the peril of what happens from NOT following Aslan but unfortunately the imagery can send a different message these days.
Still a good read and a great series overall.

Es cuando escribo que todo concluye, las aventuras solo han comenzado, una fantasía que cambia de rumbo, un final distinto, pero agradable, depende la perspectiva. Solo era parte de algo completamente indescriptible por no ser conocido.
I don't have much to say beyond these overall points:
1) Lewis' weakest writing overall: the characters are bland, the action is pure spectacle, the plot overt and obnoxious, and the final message and symbolism is not only annoying and frustrating but theologically inaccurate.
2) The racism and depiction of his own fictional but "other" cultural is incredible inappropriate and impossible to ignore as you read.
3) The ending is bombastically stupid, shallow, self-serving, and boring.

A beautiful ending to a fun series. Love the idea of what’s to come is better than what has been.
I get now why people love this book. I I have for years been stuck at Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I have taught The Magicians Nephew and The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. But this book made me so happy. Aslan was so magical and the ending was like being greeted by old friends!
Whereas most of the Narnia books start strong and end poorly, this one is the opposite: I wasn't brought in till the conclusion, which contains a very pleasant vision of heaven.
