An unexpected left turn: The blackface sequence; the antagonists that are so obviously middle eastern/Islamic-coded; literally killing all of the child heroes in a train crash. Strange way for this series to go out.
I was somewhat hesitant to go back and read all of the Chronicles of Narnia as an adult, as I was afraid they would lose the magic they held for me as a child. I was also worried that the heavy religious undertones would bother me as an adult. For the most part, I enjoyed re-reading the books. No, they weren't as magical as they were when I was younger, but that was to be expected. Still, this last book bothered me. It is by far my least favorite of the seven. While religious undertones run through all of the books, they're more like slap-you-in-the-face overtones in the last installment. And I cannot stand the way Lewis ended it.

My notes from my 1991 journal say I couldn't find #6 in the series so I skipped right from #5 to #7. My comments about "The Last Battle" were: "I wanted to cry the entire last 30 pages. It was so sad and beautiful and happy."
Well it was not that bad. Indeed, when you reread a children's book as an adult(-ish), you will see it in a new perspective (and find some new problems too)
I am still pissed out that Susan is She is the most relatable character for me and Lewis' treatment of her is just...harsh.
I do not like how the Calormenes are pictured. Evil barbarian "darkies" country, whose inhabitants wear turban and use scimitar, stinks of onions and garlics, and has almost no redeemable quality except a few decent people now and then, compared to Narnia, the country of white gallant knights and fair maidens and freedom-loving talking beasts. Perhaps when writing this, C.S. Lewis did not expect his works would be this popular and eventually be read by people from other side of the world who thinks, "whoops this description of barbarian country sounds awfully similar to the Western misconception of MY people and MY culture."
Well, not exactly mine, but still.
And I still think a lot of problem could be avoided if only King Tirian was not such a foolish Gryffindor.
Yes I just fused Narnia and Harry Potter universe. Sue me.
Full review after Eid (yes, really).

Overall the series was fine, no real depth to it. Wish they didn't cycle through so many characters, but it was nice seeing them all back in this final book.
This one wasn't bad, a lot of action due to internal conflict and some war which was a nice change from the other books. The last 3 chapters were a big change with the world ending for no good reason. Everyone made it to the "heaven" of all the worlds since it was confirmed that all the characters died in a train wreck. Susan was the only one who didn't, when she wasn't even a thought to her own family at the end. It doesn't sit right with me that no one mentioned her now that her whole family just died, not to mention that they were talking bad about her earlier on.

Ni una estrellita. Muy erróneos los mensajes que transmite. Es una lástima que así termine una saga que inició muy bien para mí. Definitivamente no voy a conservar este libro.
